Published on February 24, 2021 in Newport/News NEWPORT — Local emergency workers and a DHART helicopter were called out to Newport following a snowmobile crash this morning. The Newport Center Volunteer Fire Department (NCVFD) said they responded along with Newport Ambulance Service (NAS) to the area of Clark Mountain Road at around 11:45 a.m. Newport City Fire was requested to respond with a Ranger to help get to the victim and bring her out. Emergency workers say they were able to locate the victim quickly with the help of a local VAST member that had knowledge of the trails. A DHART helicopter was requested due to the long extraction time and nature of the injuries.
