The Parliament will have an extended four-day break this week (File) The Parliament will have an extended four-day break this week, beginning Thursday, even though the first three days of the second half of the Budget session saw both the Houses barely transacting any official business. While Thursday is a holiday on account of Maha Shivratri, the Rajya Sabha Chairman and Lok Sabha Speaker have decided to "cancel" the sitting on March 12 on the request of the members. Moreover, Fridays are reserved for private members' bills and no government agenda is taken up for most part of the day. Since Parliament usually does not meet on weekends, the two Houses will reconvene again on March 15.
