In 2008, filmmaker Luke Holland started filming interviews with what would turn out to be hundreds of elderly Germans, described - perhaps euphemistically in some cases - as "witnesses" to the crimes of the Third Reich.
Among those who appear on camera in "Final Account," Holland's last documentary before his death of cancer last year, are ordinary citizens; rank-and-file veterans of the armed forces; graduates of such Nazi youth groups as the Hitlerjugend and the Bund Deutscher Mädel (League of German Girls); former members of the S.S.; and one codger still unnervingly proud to claim long-ago employment among Hitler's elite squad of personal bodyguards.
