The tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country since last year is now at 1,619,824, of which, 63,171 or 3.9 percent are active cases. There is still no available data on the areas with the highest number of new cases this Wednesday. On August 3, most of the new cases were found in Metro Manila, Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Central Visayas, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, said DOH Epidemiology Bureau Director Dr. Alethea De Guzman during a townhall event on Wednesday, August 4.
