By JULIA MARI ORNEDO, GMA News Published May 7, 2021 2:25pm The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday said guidelines for the management of COVID-19 vaccine side effects have been updated as it announced the official resumption of AstraZeneca vaccination for people younger than 60. The DOH approved earlier this month the recommendation to resume the use of the AstraZeneca jab on people under 60 after it was suspended due to concerns on possible blood clotting with low platelet count. The condition, called vaccine-induced thrombosis and thrombocytopenia (VITT), is a “very rare condition” that can occur four to 28 days after getting a viral vector vaccine like AstraZeneca, the DOH explained.
