A bid is to be made to turn the village of Donore into the 'walking capital of Meath' - with footpaths leading to Drogheda, the Battle of the Boyne site and historic Bru na Boinne. Cllr Paddy Meade will bring his motion to the meeting of the Meath County Development Plan this week, asking that the proposal but inserted into the Donore plan 2021-2027, subject to relevant environmental assessment. 'It should be noted that Donore Village is within walking distance of the town of Drogheda and that social, tourism and school attending walkers are often seen along the route, currently walking dangerously along the road,' he stated. He said the same goes for the road to the Newgrange monument site and St Mary's GAA club.
