The Dorset Care Record (DCR) for health and social care has changed its approach for receiving GP data. It has switched from using the Medical Interoperability Gateway to GP Connect standards, which facilitate the provision of APIs with GP systems. The DCR team said the move should support better clinical care by opening up information and data held within the IT systems of practices. Its senior responsible officer Peter Gill said: “The system will save time for clinicians, and provide better, more convenient care for patients. “The service makes patient medical information available to all appropriate clinicians when and where they need it to support direct patient care, leading to improvements in both care and outcomes.”
