The giving spirit of Christmas is alive and well in Watertown. Watertown couple Doug and Lynn Sharp recently decided to spread a little Christmas cheer from their donor-advised fund at the Watertown Area Community Foundation. The Sharpsâ fund awarded grants of $10,000 to Watertownâs East-Central CASA office and $20,000 to the Glacial Lakes Humane Society. The organizations were grateful to receive these grants and both said the monies will be extremely helpful as they begin the New Year. There have been 120 children (66 in the Watertown office) helped through East-Central CASA this year, said Cammie Mengwasser, program director. Next year, Mengwasser expects at least that number and knows these dollars will be put to good use whether funding for recruitment and training of new volunteers or for unexpected needs of children and their families.
