Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation joins Covenant, Essary named

SEVIERVILLE — As promised, the Dr. Robert F. Thomas Foundation isn’t going anywhere, but the board of directors announced this week that the foundation is joining Covenant Health as a wholly owned affiliate and part of the Office of Philanthropy, the fundraising arm of the health system.
Dr. Jama Spicer Sutton, chair of the Thomas Foundation board of directors, said the decision will benefit fundraising efforts.
“The health care industry has changed dramatically since the foundation was founded, and the last year of pandemic-related challenges has made fund raising both more difficult and more crucial,” Sutton said.
