(Image by Enough Project, Flickr) The Minister of Mines of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Willy Kitobo Samsoni, joined this week the Cobalt Action Partnership (CAP), a program with main goals to eliminate child and forced labor from the cobalt value chain, contribute to the sustainable development of communities, and respect the human rights of those affected by cobalt mining. Established by the Global Battery Alliance – a public-private collaboration platform founded in 2017 at the World Economic Forum – and led by the Responsible Minerals Initiative, the CAP is governed by an independent steering committee with balanced representation from the private sector, civil society and governments.
