Driver charged after passenger died in crash on Greenbelt Highway Share Updated: 9:28 AM EDT Apr 17, 2021 WLKY Digital Team Share Updated: 9:28 AM EDT Apr 17, 2021 WLKY Digital Team One person is dead and another is facing charges following a crash early Saturday morning near Pleasure Ridge Park.The accident happened shortly before 2 a.m. at Greenbelt Highway and Lower Hunters Trace.According to LMPD, the driver was heading north on Greenbelt Highway when the vehicle swerved, crossed through the southbound lanes, then onto the shoulder. The vehicle went into a grassy area and struck a metal stop light support.During the crash, the passenger was thrown from the vehicle. The vehicle went into a ditch line and came to a rest on top of the passenger. The passenger died at the scene.The driver, whose name has not been released, was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the driver was under the influence and was charged with DUI and murder.The investigation is ongoing.
