People who park "obstructively" at Formby and other beaches across Sefton could soon be fined a lot more money.
Following a motion moved on Thursday, Sefton Council will now write to the Secretary of State asking him to allow the fixed penalty charge increased in the area.
The move is stopping parts of the Sefton coast being "overwhelmed" this summer.
Formby independent councillor David Irving said by granting this request, it is hoped the "continued abuse of traffic regulations" by motorists who illegally park vehicles will force them to be more sensible in future.
