Dublin: Two people killed in fiery Highway 680 crash [Mercury News] Jan. 10—DUBLIN — Two people were killed and two others injured in a fiery vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 680, the California Highway Patrol said. At about 3:30 a.m. Sunday, a Volkswagen Jetta was traveling southbound on the highway just north of Alcosta Boulevard when for unknown reasons the Jetta veered to the right, swerved back onto the highway and then collided into the center median wall, according to the CHP. The vehicle came to rest sideways, police said, blocking the left lane. Moments later, a Ford Fiesta traveling southbound on the highway slammed into the Jetta, causing “major damage for both vehicles,” police said.
