Gardaí carried out searches for the drug in Monaghan and Louth yesterday afternoon. 
Cannabis with an estimated value of €1.1 million was seized as part of a garda operation in the north east yesterday.
The searches were conducted in Monaghan and Louth.
Gardaí also seized a firearm and €100,000 in cash, which is suspected to be gained criminally.
They have arrested a 29-year-old man and 26-year-old woman on suspicion of drug trafficking.
The pair are being held at Carrickmacross Garda Station in Monaghan.
Gardaí from GNDOCB supported by the Garda Dog Unit have seized approximately €1,120,000 of cannabis during searches in Monaghan & Louth earlier today.
