€2.9 Million Secured For Thurles Market Quarter Proje

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys has announced €75 million for 24 landmark regeneration projects in rural communities across the country.
Two projects in Tipperary secured funding. €2.9 million for the Thurles Market Quarter: This project will renovate a 19th Century former agriculture building in the car park of Thurles Town park, to create the new Thurles Market Quarter. The new Quarter will include a designated market space, a multi-functional events space and a Student’s Union and Café. The project has an overall estimated cost of €3,215,000. The project is a partnership development with Mary Immaculate College and Tipperary County Council. The department states that The project will revitalise a central location within the town and re-establish Thurles as a market town, providing a base for the local farmers’ market, increasing footfall and activity and supporting existing town centre business.
