Early vote approaches 2,700 on last day As early voting on a $13.585 million bond proposition wound into its final hours Tuesday, 2,683 Wichitans had cast ballots, according to school district officials. The bond was proposed to build and buy equipment for athletic and recreational facilities for the district's two new high schools slated for completion in fall 2024. The proposal brought brisk support and opposition after the school district decided to float it to voters in February. This is the second time the district has tried to pass a bond for sports and recreational facilities. Voters approved a $276.415 million issuance to built a pair of new high schools in November but turned thumbs down on the accessories.
