East Alton-Wood River High School votes to change grading scale Effective for remainder of school year Dylan Suttles, dylan.suttles@thetelegraph.com FacebookTwitterEmail PearsonFile photo WOOD RIVER — At a special board meeting of the East Alton-Wood River High School District 14, the board unanimously voted to make a change to the 2020-2021 grading scale. The changes affects specifically the “D” scale, which changed from 69-64 to 69-60. Superintendent John Pearson said he sees this as a possible motivator for some students. “We are trying to give our high school students who may have a failing average, but are close enough that by making a good grade on their final exams, plus working a little harder on getting assignments in, they can benefit by the lowering of the passing grade from a 64% down to a 60%,” Pearson said.
