Proposed access to the site, picture CDC PLANS to create a leisure complex of two fishing lakes, a wildlife pond and seven timber camping pods close to a ‘Roman road’ at Draughton Heights, Draughton, have been approved, despite the concerns of the parish council. Draughton Parish Council’s Richard Neale told Craven District Council’s planning committee that his council had serious concerns about the application, which includes a toilet block and parking, and was disappointed that its deferral from the last meeting for more information had not resulted in the clarity it had called for. But, after an almost one and a half hour debate, members voted to approve the scheme, described by one as ‘the weirdest application the committee was ever likely to see’, with an additional list of conditions in an attempt to allay concerns of the parish council and some committee members.
