Elgin COVID Response Fund grants additional $50,000 to local agencies
Updated 12/16/2020 6:19 PM The Elgin COVID Response Fund will grant an additional $50,000 to Centro De Información and the YWCA of Elgin for direct cash assistance to Elgin residents in need. The money was contributed by the United Way Metro Chicago, a steering committee member of the fund. United Way of Elgin merged with United Way Metro Chicago in 2019.
The fund has distributed a total of $200,000 in direct cash assistance to Elgin individuals and families for housing and utilities, food, child care and medical needs. "United Way Metro Chicago is proud to contribute another $50,000 to the Elgin COVID Response Fund," Marcia McMahon, chief professional officer of United Way Metro Chicago, said in a news release. "The people of Elgin have and will continue to be of the utmost importance to the United Way."
