“Help!!!” cry LIAT ex-workers The inaugural flight of a newly administered LIAT touches down at the Argyle International Airport on Thursday 21st January, 2021. (Facebook photo) As this country welcomed the inaugural flight on Thursday 21st January of a newly administered LIAT service, local employees and those in the wider region of LIAT in its original configuration have again made public appeals (online) to regional governments for financial help. This, as the workers continue to wait on millions of dollars owing to them for salaries, pensions and now severance pay. In response, the Government of Antigua and Barbuda, which has taken ‘ownership’ of the newly administered LIAT, has committed to make a special plea to all regional governments, through the Administrator appointed by the Court under the amended Bankruptcy law, to make payments to their nationals, after negotiations with the several unions that represented the LIAT workers.
