To learn more about our mission visit: https://internationalmedicalcorps.org/who-we-are PROGRAM BACKGROUND The conflict that started in Tigray region of Ethiopia in the beginning of November has progressively worsened leading to displacement of population and adding to the already existing needs. The numbers of refugees seeking safety in neighboring Sudan are reported to have gone over 62,000 crossing the border. As per recent report, over 1,7Million people have been displaced within Tigray fleeing conflict. High displacement have been reported from Western and Central part Tigray toward Shire. As of March 2021, approximately about 355,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have been identified in 14 sites, mostly concentrated in schools, universities and among host communities. In search for better shelter, the IDPs have started moving from site to site, increasing the risks of COVID-19 disease transmission in an already affected population.
