GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- Three homes along Gig Harbor's Sunrise Beach were damaged Monday morning when they were struck by a runaway barge, according to the Pierce County Sheriff's Department.
No one was injured.
It was around 7:30 a.m. when the owners of a gravel barge were heading south toward Tacoma trying to get it to anchorage, according to Petty Officer Trevor Lilburn with the U.S. Coast Guard.   The barge got away from them and ran aground as it drifted into a home's dock along the 9500 block of Sunrise Beach Drive NW.
