Engineered Bacteria Upcycle Waste Carbon Dioxide into Chemic

Bacteria can break down lactose to form yogurt and sugar to produce beer. Currently, scientists led by Northwestern University and LanzaTech have utilized bacteria to break down discarded carbon dioxide to create beneficial industrial chemicals.
