Two new railways to connect to Long Thanh International Airport Construction work on two light railway projects in the south is set to start, according to local authorities. Two more wind power plants put into operation in Soc Trang Two wind power plants in Vinh Chau township of Soc Trang province have been put into operation. One of them is located in ward 2 and run by the Vinh Chau Renewable Energy JSC – TDC. The 1,420 trillion VND plant consists of six turbines with a capacity of 30MW. Speaking at a ceremony to open the two facilities, Vice Chairman of the Soc Trang People’s Committee Vuong Quoc Nam asked the investors to effectively manage and operate the plants. He said the province is currently implementing 20 wind power projects with a total capacity of 1,435 MW. To date, four projects, together capable of generating 110.8 MW, have been put into commercial operation. Opening ceremony of SEA Games 31 to gather over 3,000 performers The opening ceremony of the 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 31) will take place at 8 pm on May 12 at Hanoi's My Dinh National Stadium, gathering the participation of over 3,000 performers. The two-hour ceremony will be divided into three parts, themed ‘Friendly Vietnam’, ‘Strong South East Asia’, and ‘Shining South East Asia’. The centre of stand A will provide seating for leaders and officials while the sides of stand A along with stands C and D will serve spectators. Eight athletes will then light the SEA Games cauldron to signal the official opening of the SEA Games 31. At a recent meeting to review the preparations for SEA Games 31, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung stressed that the opening ceremony is one of the most important events that contribute to the overall success of the Games. Therefore, he asked relevant units to coordinate closely to make detailed and thorough preparations for the ceremony. SEA Games 31 will be held in the capital city of Hanoi and 11 neighbouring provinces and cities from May 12 to 23. Featuring 40 sports with 526 events, it is expected to attract around 10,000 participants. The host, Vietnam, has registered 965 athletes, including 534 males and 431 females. They are set to compete across all 40 sports of the Games, striving to win 140 gold, 77 silver and 71 bronze medals and secure the top place in the tally./.
