Three new measures will be introduced across supermarkets and off-licences as part of the Government’s Public Health (Alcohol) Act 2018. 3 3 Eunan McKinney says the changes will help people curb binge drinking The Act hopes to reduce the rate of consumption per capita across the country and tackle Ireland’s alcohol abuse. Recent changes have included supermarkets having to section off their alcohol aisles to keep it out of the direct eyeline of children. And from this morning, supermarkets cannot accept vouchers for alcohol, while popular multibuys such as ‘buy five bottles of wine and get one free’ are also banned.
