That's according to the Department of Public Health Mid-West, which says the trend is 'very worrying'. It says 137 cases have been recorded in five days - the highest level of infection in over two months. Dr Martin Daly, a former president of the Irish Medical Organisation, says new restrictions may be needed for Limerick.
Meanwhile a Limerick consultant says there is clinical risk attached to the manner in which they have to treat patients at the moment.
