Ewon to assume leadership of Upko during Jan congress | Daily Express Online

Penampang Member of Parliament Datuk Ewon Benedick will formally assume leadership of the United Kinabalu Progressive Organisation (Upko) at the party’s convention set for Jan 14-15. 
The party’s Supreme Council meeting here on Thursday resolved to hold he party’s congress after the original dates of Oct 15- 16 were postponed to concentrate on the general election. 
Prime Minister cum Pakatan Harapan Chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to preside over the congress, which will be held at the Penampang Sabah Cultural Centre. 
After the incumbent Datuk Wilfred Madius Tangau opted not to defend the position, paving the way for Ewon, the Kadamaian Assemblyman, to be elected as party president. 
In the recent general election, Ewon defeated Parti Warisan’s Deputy President Datuk Darell Leiking. Ewon was the sole assemblyman from Upko to win a seat in the 2020 State Election. 
Meanwhile, Ewon said a new era for Malaysia has begun with the appointment Anwar as the 10th prime minister
