Ex-principal secy to PM SA Samad dies Staff Correspondent 28th July, 2021 11:52:47 PM Valiant freedom fighter Dr Syed Abdus Samad, former private secretary to Bangabandhu and former principal secretary to the Prime Minister, passed away while sleeping at his Baridhara residence in the capital on Wednesday. He was 79. Samad, a lifelong bachelor, died a day after he was released from a hospital in the capital following receiving the treatment for brain complications. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Dr Syed Abdus Samad. In a message of condolence, Prime Minister said, “He (SA Samad) was an honest, skilled, courageous and sincere government official.”
