SCHENECTADY – A fired jail sergeant, who was in charge when a corrections officer allegedly attacked a detainee in November, has been indicted on two counts of official misconduct, according to Schenectady County District Attorney Robert Carney.
Carney said the misdemeanor charges were unsealed Wednesday in county court against Timothy Bruce, 34.
Bruce, who appeared with his attorney, pleaded not guilty during his arraignment, said Assistant District Attorney Brian Gray, who is prosecuting. Bruce was released on bail and  is due back in court in May.
Gray said Bruce is charged with not getting jail detainee John Mannarino any medical treatment and flouting the jail’s use-of-force policy that calls for notifying a supervisor and interviewing the alleged victim as part of an investigation.
