Farmers Can Get Rid of Over 100,000 Weeds per Hour With This Hi-Tech Laser Robot 30 Apr 2021, 7:25 UTC · by 6 photos Robotics has evolved tremendously over the years and robots can now assist us in our most various activities, including farming. Seattle-based manufacturer Carbon Robotics has revolutionized agriculture with the launch of its Autonomous Weeder robot. The hi-tech machine can help farmers reduce manual labor costs and increase the quality of their crops. The Weeder is a much more eco-friendly approach to traditional herbicides and chemicals that spoil the soil and are also harmful to people and animals. The bot is a four-wheeler that runs on diesel and weighs 9,500 lb (4,309 kg). It has a 75-gallon fuel capacity, it is fully autonomous and can run around the clock, at 5 mph (8 kph). The Weeder uses powerful 150 W lasers to destroy over 100,000 undesirable weeds per hour and it can cover 15-20 acres (approximately 6 to 8 ha) per day. Its lasers have a 3mm (0.11 in) accuracy.
