Can sanitize properly that public utility workers can sanitize, doctors offices can see patients and everybodies level of tension can go down a little bit because we can protect ourselves. Crazy aarons is working with five saints distilling to produce 1,500gallons a day of Hand Sanitizer and get this , this is incredible. This is also helping the economy , because the economy of course had to temporarily lay off most of the companies 85 workers when they came to close nonessential businesses, but were able to bring back about two dozen employees to work on making and packaging something we all really need right now which is Hand Sanitizer. Pete . Pete thank you, laura. Millions of americans are out of work as much as the country is closed for business to stop the spread of coronavirus, so, one charity is doing double duty feeding those in need and putting dozens of laid off americans back to work. My colleague sandra smith, co host of americas news room, has the story. Sandra theres a charity called operation barbecue relief helping out in this very difficult time for the American People by serving hot meals to medical workers and First Responders on the frontlines of this pandemic, and employing restaurant workers in the meantime, suddenly left jobless. Joining us now is army veteran jay collins, operational barbecue relief chief programs officer. Jay, thank you for your service as an army veteran and thank you for what youre doing now. Tell us about it. Thank you, sandra. Its a pleasure to be on and we appreciate the opportunity. So, we are a nonprofit and we started in 2011 after the jopli n tornadoes and started with competition barbecue folks getting ready to give back to the community and a couple house meals turned into 120,000 and to date weve served almost 3. 2 million meals to those in need through disaster and nondisaster and our focus on the covid19 response is communities, going back to restaurants, providing jobs to those that lost them in the restaurant industry, our program is called the restaurant relief plan, or rrp. How many meals do you think youre serving now . So each restaurant relief plan at restaurants, the rrp has pushed out about 2,500 meals per day. Thats the projection, to provide 710 jobs at a minimum to the restaurant staff, over about a 14 day period which can provide 35,000 free meals to the community. To date in the kansas city area we serve about 10,000 meals. So youre getting those meals to people on the frontlines, our doctors, our nurses, but also to the homeless who badly need that help during this time. What sort of response are you getting from those people that youre serving these meals to . Well its gratitude. Its our way to go back and just say hey, look were investing in you as a person, were investing in you as a family and investing in the community and acrosstheboard, its overwhelming gratitude and were currently running through our tests of this rrp in kansas city and already have plans to expand this from coast to coast. Were so thankful for those people who have supported us, both corporate and individual people, to make this possible. Its been a real godsend, and making a difference. Its a beautiful thing. Thank you for what youre doing. You represent the best of us, the best of america, and we support you. Thank you, jay. Pete i didnt think i could like barbecue any more than i already do, but then you give me that story thank you, sandra and say hi to my old buddy, ed henry you have to put up with him now. Next, on america together parents like yours truly are getting creative with home schooling and going back to the basics. Ill show you how im teaching my kids during the school shut down. America together is an initiative here at fox news to put a spotlight on Inspiring Stories during this coronavirus pandemic and highlight acts of heroism, service, and sacrifice, and while so many are on the frontlines fighting the virus, many of us are at home, protecting and teaching our kids. Parents trying to figure out how to balance this new workfrom home and home schooling and its a challenge to say the least but my good friend dana perino is here to help. She turned her love of books in a way to give parents that much needed break. Dana hi, everybody, welcome back to story time with dana perino. Hi, everybody. Hi, everybody. Dana did you know that dragons love tacos, beef tacos and chicken tacos, blue skies, puffy white clouds, sunshine with a light breeze. The perfect weather for lilly pad hopping in the pond near freddies house. What did one plate say to the other plate . I dont know what did one plate say to the other plate . Dinner is on me. Pete i caught up with her earlier this week. Dana, thank you so much for joining us this evening we appreciate it. Dana thanks for having me. I really appreciate it especially because im not a parent. I know that you are and you have wonderful kids, and im just trying to do a little bit of my best here, but i could probably use some work on the reading to kids. [laughter] pete no thats one of the questions i was going to have. Youre there in your apartment reading to kids who are not there. How do you think about story time to imaginary kids in front of you . Its been interesting. One of the reasons i came up with it was everybody wants to do something to help during this time and before everything got really locked down, i was walking to work and in the streets of manhattan its usually very busy and i didnt even have to look both ways, all the way on my walk to work because there was no traffic, and i was thinking about what was happening especially for School Children who all of a sudden found themselves at home and their routines were so disrupted, and i remembered laura bush when she was first lady talked about after 9 11, how important it was to try to keep reading time something that you could always do with your children, to help keep them calm , reassure them, it gives them a chance to be close to you , and also it gives the parents a little bit of a moment with their children, and what i was hearing from my friends was that they were trying to figure out how were they going to entertain their kids all day long and make sure they were getting an education and i thought well maybe i could use face time or Facebook Live to read some stories to kids, but it is a little strange because you dont have any feedback, right . You dont know if your jokes are landing, you dont know anything , so im just here and its silent and im trying my best but i was so encouraged by Fox News Channel embracing this idea and trying to get it out to more platforms and then i loved the comments from people. Ive heard from people i havent seen in many years. Pete yeah thats what i want to know. Youve made it so easy to go out on the digital platform so families can absorb it. What is that feedback . Well, its funny theres a few, i remember one grandmother told me that her grandson reminds her every day, her grandson is five years old and says dont forget, we have to do story time so i try to do it at 3 30 p. M. Eastern every day and ive heard from people who dont have children, theres a woman who said she was 80 and story time was her favorite time of the day. But i really love getting the pictures of kids and of course dogs sitting and listen ing to story time. Its nice for me too to take a break because the news can be pretty heavy right now, and i love the creativity that authors have for childrens books theyre really special. Pete i think its a beautiful concept this feature is about bringing america together, inspiring people, motivating them in every single way we think about healthcare workers and parents and when the parents can say you know that dana perino from 2 00 and 5 00 so now she will read you a book at 3 30 its pretty darn cool. How do you choose your books, exit question . Well i dont know. I have an assistant and she knows i have about 100 ideas a day, and so this idea she knew i really wanted to do so she has been gathering books and theres been some classics that weve done like jack and the bean stalk but i just did one called dragons love tacos i dont know if you knew that but apparently dragons love tacos but not the spicy kind, so but its really pretty neat. I love this experience, and i hope that this small little part in the day for parents if they need to throw in a load of laundry, finish the dishes, send some emails, it gives them just a tiny bit of a break. Pete well, it is fantastic, dana perino thanks for all you do on the channel and youre giving it back even more at this moment thats tough for parents at home, so dana perino thank you so much. Thank you, pete. Pete you can watch story time with dana every weekday at 3 30 p. M. Eastern time on fox news. Com, the fox News Facebook page, youtube and fox nation. As i mentioned, millions of children are now at home, and parents, the teachers and principal. Were trying to find creative ways to home school and in my family, no different than yours. Im the principal and my wife, the academic dean. We established the hegseth school for Higher Learning in our home and every day, i host a Library Lecture for the kids. Take a look. All right, welcome to the Library Lecture the third one in our series at the hegseth school for Higher Learning. Pete were here in the library for the lecture what do you think we might be talking about today . Economics. Pete very good. Todays subject is, write it down, at home, if you want to, these guys have notebooks that theyve been keeping for all of our lectures so theyve got notes already on economics, but if you want to take notes at home great. Its a fun way to remember and your parents might make you write an essay about it i know thats no fun but these guys had to do that so tough luck. What you understand jackson when you talked about earlier there is . No free lunch. Pete for the folks at home, your kids might think wait when i go to my friends house and my parents make it for me i get a free lunch or if my kids had a lunchable, and gives it to me and i didnt have to pay for it i got a free lunch but the point is you never get a free lunch, because somebody somewhere paid for it okay . Maybe their parents paid for it or the school paid for it, with your tax dollars, or the company, because you got it for free from them, they had to eat the cost of making it, so no one makes any money okay . Come here. So there you go, human nature. People are going to try to take themselves including my thieves here at the hegseth school for Higher Learning which is why i dont bring props but we try to do what we can. Socialism versus capitalism is a Library Lecture of the hegseth school for Higher Learning. Goodbye. Pete as i mentioned, im hosting from home tonight and that library is right over there im not sure who had more fun, me, or the kids. You can check out all five of my Library Lectures on fox nation starting tomorrow. Well, we stay apart to Stay Together during this National Health emergency, were seeing some brand new ways to show our love and support. My buddy janice dean has been keeping track of kindness. Janice . Janice thank you, pete. Its truly been amazing, how inspiring americans can be during heartship. This next story is incredible. Fifteenyearold cocoa johnson finished her last chemotherapy last week at the hospital in los angeles and she really didnt expect much of a celebration, amidst the covid19 outbreak, obviously. She was expecting to celebrate with her family, and that was it , but as they turned the corner in their neighborhood she had an outpouring of community. On her drive home from the hospital she turned down her street and was greeted by family , friends, and neighbors, cheering her on. Cars decorated with balloon, streamers and signs lined both sides of the road and supporters honked and clapped to celebrate her milestone and return home. Everyone stayed in or near their vehicles to maintain social distancing, but that sure didnt stop them from supporting their neighbor and their friend. Coco says she hopes all of those who see the video will be inspired to support their own communities during this pandemic this next story proves that some heros come in the most unexpected forms. Twentyyearold liam have created a Free Delivery Service called invisible hands for those who can no longer go out and shop for groceries or pick up prescriptions themselves. In just over a week, the duo have gained over 7,000 volunteers and made over 600 deliveries, to the elderly and immunocompromised in new york city. This is one of those times when i remember that new york is such a small town, and people are willing to look out for one another and have each others backs. Janice invisible hands takes orders online or by phone volunteering to go shopping and then delivering the goods right to the customers doorsteps. Thank you to these invisible hands, for making new york city and the world a much better place. This final story is truly hard warming. Cancer patient jeantte peacock had to go to her final radiation treatment alone due to social distancing efforts but her family knew this milestone had to be celebrated. They reached out to members of their community to line the road on a mountainside that leads to her hometown. During her drive, jeantte was greeted by her kids and her husband holding a sign that read , the best view comes after the hardest time and as she drove down that mountain, she passed by friends and neighbors, ringing bells, and holding even more signs of encouragement. Pete, the best views truly do come after the hardest climb and i believe america will overcome this climb as were getting through it together. Back to you. Pete janice, thank you. You have been such a ray of sunshine during these challeng ing times. When we come back on america together dont miss the tales of social distancing by our own fox news host Casey Macdonald that includes puppies so dont go anywhere. music bewere bringing the theater home to you with xfinity movie premiere. Americans are pulling each other up through this pandemic, because we are all in this together, and help is still needed, with surging unemployment rate, food banks are seeing a high demand. Fox nation host abbey hornasec went to see what we can do. Abbey you said it perfectly theres a huge need for donations acrosstheboard right now. I saw it a couple of weeks ago when i went to a blood bank and now were seeing it with food banks as more and more americans unfortunately lose their jobs. I had the opportunity to talk to two different food Bank President s and ceos about this issue, and one of whom leads the worlds firstever food bank, st. Maries. Take a listen. St. Marys food bank is the First Food Bank ever in the entire world so you guys have really paved the way. How are you setting the precedent now during this uncertain time amidst the coronavirus . You know, abby, youre right st. Maries was the First Food Bank in the world and that star
