Anthony fauci spoke out on finding the efforts to get the drug approved by the fda. I want them to go as quickly as they can. Theres never been anything like it and, yeah, we want everybody to be safe but we do we would like to see very quick approvals. Data shows that remdesivir has quickcut significant positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery. Whenever you have clearcut evidence that a drug works, you have ethical obligation to immediately let the people who are in the Placebo Group so they can have access. Maria gilead has said that it would manufacture and donate 1 and a half million doses to hospitals by the end of may. Thats about 200,000 treatment courses. The company ceo says that 50,000 treatment courses are already prepared to ship once that drug is approved. Joining me right now senior biotech analyst, tyler, also joining the conversation fox business Dagen Mcdowell, Payne Capital management president ryan payne and New York Post Editorial Board member kelly torrence. Thank you very much for joining us. Taylor, lets kick it off with you. Give us your thoughts on remdesivir . What do you think about the strength here in terms of treating covid19 . Yeah, thanks for having me, maria, good morning. So over the past couple of months we got a number of case reports and anecdotes and News Headlines but no clear evidence from randomized Clinical Trials. Yesterday was momentous day because we received data from 3 randomized Clinical Trials from gilead and niad, nih, what we are see ago cross the aisle the majority of patients are getting discharged relative to some control arms where patients are taking up to 15 days. So youre seeing a several day improvement in terms of time to clinical improvement. Youre also seeing some trends in mortality but its early, youre seeing less time on ventilation and several other meaningful benefits, so its quite clear that remdesivir is reducing viral load and improving clinical outcomes in the patients and based upon the data, i think theres going to be a ton of pressure for the fda to approve this drug, at least under an accelerated pathway as soon as possible. Maria are there other drugs that you could name that are close to this kind of success rate as remdesivir . Give us your thoughts on what happens when you have a situation where we are in right now, massive man pandemic waiting on a vaccine and here you have a company with success. Does that triggers others successes . I think it does. The antivirals will be the first to be approved and they work in acute fashion and we are using drug that is we have on hand and applying them for covid19 patients. Vaccines are clearly going to take much longer. With respect to antivirals remdesivir appears to be most potent antiviral and most impressive Clinical Data generated to date and theres Clinical Data. We would expect it to get approved soon. President trump called it a Building Block. Clearly this is something that you can build upon combined with other agents that are potentially used to treat the inflammation that leads to respiratory distress and other consequences to have disease. Maria Dagen Mcdowell. Dagen taylor, i was watching tony fauci yesterday in the oval office when he started talking about this drug and tears were running down my face because i could see based on the look on his face and the look of dr. Debbie birx when they were talking about the trial, the quote that really jumped out at me was that its proof he said that a drug can block this virus, and he started talking about and looking at dr. Birx talking about azt and it wasnt a terrific drug but it was the first Building Block and then it was another drug and another drug and another drug that basically led to people being able to live in a full life with hiv. What is the next step, the next Building Block . I know that remdesivir, i believe blocks in enzymes, but are other drugs that will build on base case, the standard that all other drugs will be judged by. What are the other drugs that are maybe in the works that would extend what we already know about remdesivir . Yeah, so remdesivir is part of a class of analogues which blocks the ability for the virus to replicate but theres multiple different steps in the viral replication process that are required for it to continue to replicate in the body and infect the patient and cause damage and so just like hiv they started with one mechanism or one class of antivirals and they added on multiple over time and now what youre seeing with hiv patients, they use multiple antivirals to keep down dedirectable detectable levels or at least continue to improve clinical outcomes over time. Maria tyler, great to get your input this morning. Jampacked news day. Coming up congressman and House Judiciary Committee member doug collins. Hes the Ranking Member on explosive new documents revealing hidden agenda within the fbi, something we expected, we are going get into it. Stay with us. Cleaning spray. For more information, visit cdc. Gov covid19. This message brought to you by the National Association of broadcasters and this station. Maria welcome back, abuse of power at the top of the fbi, unsealed documents reveal top Bureau Officials debated whether to get former security adviser Michael Flynn to lie, the motivations for interviewing flynn in the white house right after President Trumps inauguration in january 2017. Former head of counterintelligence writes this, what is our goal, truth, admission or get him to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired, these are handwritten note that is were exculpatory evidence. Joining us georgia congressman doug collins to talk more about from the obviously good to see you, congressman, good to see you. Good to see you. Maria we talked about this for a long time, congressman, and i want to read you the public filing from Sidney Powell who is general flynns lawyer, number 1 the fbi preplanned delivered attack on general flynn willfully chose to ignore section 1001 in the interview despite full knowledge of that pact. They planned a perjury trap at best and in doing so put it in writing saying what is our goal as i just said. Your reaction to what we have learned just yesterday with this public filing from flynns attorney . We talked about this many times but those when we kept bringing this up, problem with comey and all the other going together, we kept seeing it, released the transcripts and kept talking about interview. Now its coming true. When people thought we were on a rant, talking about something that was not true, we are now showing that it was true. They did have an agenda against the president , this candidate, what it means is when they went in there they went in there with motives, they were trying to deceive general flynn and inform him or continue to say, make sure, you cant lie, trying to basically trying to trap him to something else. Sidney powell has done outstanding job of getting information now and also showing that thankfully previous attorney who is now we are seeing did not turn evidence to her. This just goes back to something thats basic, maria, thats that our federal government was used by certain individuals to go after people that they did not like. This just shows for a fact that strzok, somebody cable, comey had an agenda that was outside of the bounds of their job and outside of the bounds of the law because they had dislike for donald trump and they were going to do anything to get people maria yeah. They made up their mind about this. Maria congressman, i know that you and i have spoken about this for a long time. Ive been saying that that this and that section they ignored telling 101, rather, that he should bring lawyers. If a couple of fbi agents say they want to interview you, you want to have your lawyer there. Jim comey layed it all out for us as if it was okay. Watch the interview back in 2018 that he gave during his book tour. You look at the white house now and its hard to imagine 2 fbi agents. How does that happened . I sent them. [laughter] something i probably wouldnt have done or got anway with in a more organized investigation, more organized administration, in in the george w. Bush administration or Obama Administration, two men that we have appreciation for over the last 2 years. [applause] [laughter] and in both of those administrations there was process and so if the fbi wanted to send agents into the white house itself to interview a senior official, you would work through the white House Counsel and discussions and approvals and who would be there and i thought its early enough, lets just send a couple of guys over. Maria yeah, lets just send a couple of fbi guys in and laugh about it. Real funny to destroy a mans life, star general which served country for many years and he told us in the interview, congressman, what he wanted to do, tell them that we want to come by, dont have a lawyer there. Jim comey is what is wrong with the whole thing. Jim comey wants to make it like hes superman in the interview. The s on his chest is for shame. He was talking about former president s, he didnt like this president. He didnt call him by name. This is the arrogance, but also remember there was also a memo written by peter strzok to Andrew Mccabe on what he would say to general flynn on the day of the interview. I want to remind viewers, mccabe lie today his own colleagues and fired but never charged for it. They charged general flynn in a setup interview with lying to the fbi but yet mccabe who lied to his own colleagues was never charged. Theres a problem here. I want mr. Durham to continue to see this. This is a real problem. Maria so congressman, when is enough . We know for a fact, its been confirmed by the doj, at least four of the wiretaps on carter page were illegal. We know that general flynn was sets up, illegal. We know that there were informants in the Trump Administration before the official they say it began july of 16th, informants all over the place beginning inauguration happened. When is enough . When is anybody going to see inside of a jail cell here because this is massive abuse of power and now most people in america understand that . Yeah, today is enough. Today is enough. I mean, we have seen it this week. Today is enough. Attorney general who is looking on the flynn issue, attorney barr appointed durham, its time for it to end. Its time for the circus that went after flynn, comey, mccabe, strzok, page, im so tired of them folks thinking they were these warriors for what they thought was political agenda. Maria unbelievable. They need to stop now. Maria you know, on sunday i tweeted out this is the week that general flynn will be completely exonerated. Do you believe what we have here exonerates general flynn . I think youre getting close to the truth and shows that it was a setup from day one. Maria all right, we will leave it there, congressman, good to see you this morning, thank you, sir. Doug collins, fired up 6 00 a. M. In the morning. More mornings with maria when we come back. Stay with us. Im greg, im 68 years old. I do motivational speaking in addition to the substitute teaching. I honestly feel that thats my calling to give back to younger people. I think most adults will start realizing that they dont recall things as quickly as they used to or they dont remember things as vividly as they once did. Ive been taking prevagen for about three years now. People say to me periodically, man, youve got a memory like an elephant. Its really, really helped me tremendously. Prevagen. Healthier brain. Better life. Maria welcome back, the clash of the tech titans, Tesla Ceo Elon musk and Facebook Ceo Mark Zuckerberg taking opposite sides on stay at home orders. Musk telling investors the orders hinders peoples freedom, listen. If somebody wants to stay in the house, thats great. They should be allowed to stay in the house and not compel today leave but to say that they cannot leave their house and theyll be arrested if they do, this is this is fascist. This is not democratic. This is not freedom. Give people back their goddamn freedom. Maria zuckerberg on the other hand saying caution, i worry that opening place too quickly before infection rates have been reduced to minimal levels will guaranty future outbreaks and worse longerterm healthcare and economic outcomes. Dagen mcdowell, reaction to musks comments fascism is the word he used. Dagen look at mayor de blasio talking about rounding up jewish mourners in new york city. Thats what people are upset about and these restrictions and basically just throwing the constitution out of the window, we see this far and wide, a pile of lawsuits over the coronavirus lockdown measures because much of what these local officials and governors have done is draconian and americans understand their freedoms and when they are restricted they get mad, so good for elon musk for saying this. By the way, Mark Zuckerbergs business benefits when people are locked inside of their houses, that hes going to be the kumbaya, everybody come together. Facebook is going to lead the way. Elon musk is, get out on the road in my car. I know everybody has a financial interest, but, again, because people because much of what has happened in this country is draconian and is an overreach and the more the government continues to overreach the worse the economy is going to be. Maria kelly, wait until people start finding out what tracking and tracing is, lets see if they get upset about that, if you have coronavirus, thats tracking and tracing, you hear a lot of conversation in government these days. Kelly you are, maria, i dont think people realized that they want to put they want you to download apps on your phone that will basically track you. I have to say the people that have been doing a lot of the draconian measures, they dont seem to have a lot of empathy of millions of american who is have lost their jobs. I watch andrew cuomo every day and the reporter asked about those people, wow, they can get a new job as essential worker. Its just unbelievable that he thinks he can keep the state shut down and its not going to have a really bad effect on people but, of course, are not the people that theyre hurting. Government officials. Mark zuckerberg who is doing perfectly fine to tell people that they shouldnt be going out and do not reopen the economy at all when they are not the ones that lost their jobs and struggling to feed their families, maria. Maria thats right, in about 2 hours we will get another look of how many people applied for Unemployment Benefits, kelly, we will get the numbers, we know 26 Michael Flynn to lie and get him fired. We have more coming up. Earning season rolling on this morning. After the bell tonight attention turns to amazon and apple. Markets this morning are higher. Ryan yeah, first off, i love musk, we need more of that here in america, saying what you think and saying it out loud. I think it speaks to the fact that we need to do in stages, companies that obviously you cant build a tesla at home the last time i checked so i think companies that need to have people on the floor working, you know, put those social distancing measures in place and then Companies Like facebook and even my firm we are working remotely with no problem. You have to get the people back to work that need to get back to work and then those who can work from home, we will phase in later. Dagen weve got a president who is like the most [laughter] maria guys, this is the final day of the month and it was a turbulent month for markets. S p 500 on track for best month since 1974. Plus we are coming back with a look in the American Auto industry as the industry looks to restart its engine. Back in a minute. Stay with us. Maria welcome back, good thursday morning, it is thursday april 30th, final day of the month. Top stories right now 6 33 a. M. On the east coast. On the fast track, positive news on possible coronavirus treatments and easing of lockdowns pushing futures higher this morning. Off of the best level it was morning and s p just turned negative but the dow futures are now up 40 points and s p down 1 point and nasdaq up 30 points, onethird of 1 . This on top of a strong rally yesterday. Major indices set to snap a 3day losing streak. Best month since 1974 with the market up 12 and a half percent for the month, 15 on the nasdaq and 13 on the s p 500 for the month of april. Global markets look like this. European indices searching for direction this morning. We have a few holidays on. The pandemic taking a toll on the euro zone economy. First quarter gdp contracted by record 3. 8 . European Central Bank Presidencies president kristin lagard. Thats coming up in the next hour. In asia overnight optimism over treatment of coronavirus did fuel rally. South korea and hong kong were closed for holiday but japan was up better than 2 and the shanghai was up 1. 3 , chinas economy taking a hit from the decline in global demand. Factory activity in month of april declining more than expected. Meanwhile President Trump is accusing china of doing, quote, anything they can to make sure he loses his reelection. Cheryl casone with those details now, cheryl, good morning to you. Cheryl thats right, maria, good morning. President trump telling reuters that he believes chinas handling of coronavirus pandemic is that beijing wants him to lose to joe biden in november. The president has criticized china for not accurately reporting the number of cases after the initial outbreak in wuhan back in december. President trump believes that beijing supports biden because of the current tariff war between the countries. The president also suggesting he could take action for not acting fast enough to warn the rest of the world. Well, two Big Tech Companies out with strong results after the closing bell last night. Facebook reported higher earnings per share and revenue as people hunker down at home during coronavirus pandemic. The number of daily active users in march rose 11 from a year ago to 1. 7 billion. Facebook covid19 could hurt ad sales Going Forward although it has seen signs of stability in the last few weeks. Shares soaring in the premarket up more than 9 . We will have the same questions for twitters earnings when those come out in half an hour. Earnings and revenue in microsoft, both top expectation in the last expectation, thanks to Cloud Computing services, stock is up more than 2 and a half percent. Revenue jumping 15 from a year ago to 35 billion and obviously teams which is at microsoft Virtual Meeting space, that had a big end users. As you can imagine, people working from home. Finally a look at what is trending this morning on foxbusiness. Com. Softbank, 8 billiondollar loss on wework right town. The company says 6. 6 billion loss in the year in investment outside of envision fund and softbank embroiled in legal dispute after backing out of offer when it bailed out the firm after flopped ipo last year. Softbank poured more than 13. 5 billion in the wework and amazon and nfl streaming deal, the two reached 2year deal. Amazon and twitch will stream to prime customers in 200 countries and territories around the world, maria, and the nfl virtual draft was anything that we learned is that people like to watch football sports no matter how they can get it. [laughter] maria thats true. Cheryl, thank you. Lets take a look at marks this morning. Things have turned more negative on the heels of some gains earlier. Little bit of a mixed story here. Dow industrials 37 points but s p 500 is flat having given up some of the earlier umpf, economists are expecting 3. 5 Million People filed for unemployment last week, joining me phil orlando, phil, great to see you this morning, thank you so much for being here. 26 Million People have filed, 26 million americans filed for Unemployment Benefits in the last 5 weeks but you think that this recession is going to be short lived and maybe we see growth in the Third Quarter, is that right . Phil absolutely. We are definitely in a recession now. The numbers yesterday much worse than expected. That was just quarter that we are now that we think is negative 20 , consensus negative 25 but the numbers are going to be terrible but just look at the claims data that you referenced. We will get 3 and a half million claims this morning which is bad , but number peaked a month ago, we were just 7 million claims in march, the numbers have been starting to trend lower and if we are going to successfully begin to reopen the economy, starting over the next couple of weeks, we roll into the Third Quarter a lot of those folks who are temporarily furloughed will be going back to work. The down cycle here is going to be very much restricted to the first and Second Quarters. Maria are you getting anything out of earnings . I mean, we have big earnings this morning, for example, Companies Like mcdonalds, twitter, phillips reporting today and after the bell today you have investors watching apple, amazon. Are you taking out of quarterly reports or should we just understand that the First Quarter is going to be one to write off and Second Quarter likely as well but whats most important what they say about the future, phil, they dont have the clarity and visibility about the future . Phil youre exactly right. We are 40 away from the earnings season. Earnings is down 16 year over year. Revenue is flat, they are missing expectations an most companies are withdrawing guidance. What i think investors are focused are we able to successfully open the economy between now and the middle of the year, that suggests we are looking at positive Economic Growth and positive corporate earnings in the Third Quarter and i think thats whats driving the 35 rally we have seen in the s p over the last 5 weeks. Maria ryan payne. Ryan i couldnt agree with you more. A lot of the Earnings Data right now obviously unemployment data which is really bad, its all backwards looking and, you know, the market is discounting mechanism for the future and i have to agree with you 100, we are the only ones calling for a vshape rally and if things will continue to improve and i dont know how you feel about this, this market could continue to go higher here. I think thats probably the higher at this point. I love your optimism. We would bounce around here with Economic News pretty much march through may, but if we are wrong on the recovery the market is telling us this looks more like a v and the mechanism that you touched upon is exactly what the happening here. We are actually convinced we will get back to record highs, north of 3400 level. We thought that level was going to be achieved more like late 21 or early 22, but but the market is telling us that may be happening quicker than expected and i think the important swing factor here is can we begin to safely reopen the economy with jobs, with testing, with tracing over the course of the Second Quarter and that suggests we are going to start looking at better numbers, positive numbers in the third and Fourth Quarters and i think thats exactly what the markets are trying to price in right now. Maria all right, we will leave it there, phil, good to sigh you this morning. Phil maria, thank you. Maria you see sun on the horizon. Phil we do. Maria phil orlando. Fast tracking a treatment. Whenever you have clearup evidence that a drug works, you have an ethical obligation to immediately let the people who are in the Placebo Group know so they can have access. Maria that was dr. Anthony fauci at the white house touting positive studies from remdesivir and gilead promising to ramp up production to help fight the virus. Joining us family finish jennifer caudle, thank you so much for being here. Your reaction from what you heard from dr. Fauci and and the strength of remdesivir . Jennifer maria, i have to say this is exciting news in the sense that we havent had good news regarding coronavirus thus far. We havent had news about a potential treatment, about a potential therapy, you know, the scientists and the doctors know that we have to be cautiously optimistic and look at the rest of the trial and the rest of the data. Theres still a lot more we have to learn. But this is certainly a good start and i know its giving a lot of people hope and giving physician hope as well. Maria so tell us what we need to know about it . Whats the difference between remdesivir and hydroxychloroquine, which one in your opinion looks like a better treatment . Jennifer first of all, lets start with your second question which is that the trials, right, so we always say data, data, data is our friend. Really the only way we will know if something works and if its safe is if we do studies on it and what we have with this latest trial with remdesivir is we have prey decent result. The study shows 31 of patients, the patients in the study actually had 31 faster time of recovery. They recovered in 11 days versus 15 days and that is significant. Thats good news. Anyway, to answer that question based on the data, remdesivir looks awesome. What remdesivir is. Lets get to that. First of all, it is not a vaccine. I want people to know that. Its not a vaccine. This is a potential treatment. Now this is atrament that was given in the study that people that were very sick, hospitalized patients, so this right now is not for people with mild disease. Its not for people that may be at home and it was given in the iv or intravenous form, not a pill form. This is antiviral med discussion, this works against viruses. This works different than hydroxychloroquine. They are different medication and the last thing that will say about it is that remdesivir, we heard in the horizon, this was a medication that was initially tested with ebola patients and also showed efficacy with mers and sars which are coronaviruses. Maria yeah, i read i read earlier about this antiviral drug remdesivir outsmarts the coronavirus. First of all its administered intravenous but interferes with the way the virus replicates itself. Very good news. Always a pleasure, thank you so much. Thank you. Jennifer caudle joining us. Interviewing National Security Michael Flynn, a fitting nsa, back in a minute. Car sales are plummeting more than 50 year over year according to one estimate. The cost of a stalled production hitting detroits big 3, thats ford, gm and fiat chrysler. Theyve gotten hit hard. Ford and gm burning through 150 billion a day from their factories as they remain idle. Joining us right now the National Transportation expert and auto journalists michael, good to see you. The auto sector getting crushed right now. How would you assess things . Micheal good morning and thank you for having me on. Right now we are looking at estimates 650,000 units of new vehicles being sold in the United States. I think thats a god sign given where we were a month ago when estimates were 80 to 90 of vehicles not being sold. The hardesthit places in the country right now are where the pandemic is hitting the strongest. So new york is at 79 in the negative, in the red spot, not looking good but if you go to sun belt states, the numbers are looking good. Phoenix at 22 in the red. You look at texas, truck sales are through the roof. Its actually a good time to buy a car but its really bleak as far as total sales in the u. S. Maria Dagen Mcdowell. Dagen but in terms of the cash position, michael, and what these companies particularly ford and gm have done to sure up their finances, ford in its Earnings Report the other day said it has cash level that it can get through the rest of the year i believe even if they didnt restart their plans. Micheal thats correct. Yes, the automakers will get through this and i think its because they are doing things that are creative on the sales front right now, so right now we are looking almost 50 of dealerships across the country are closed down but they are all opening up and earlier in the week, we are talking about the industry opening up may 18th. My sources inside of all of the automakers they are pushing dealers right now and incentives are pretty strong and deferred payment is helping customers. We are seeing consumers look at buying vehicles and the best part you dont have to go to a dealership now, they will allow you to buy vehicle at your house and deliver so you can start driving. Ryan quick question. What about some of the International Manufacturers . Are any of them under pressure that may go out of business with the fact that right now obviously ensuring up capital is a big thing . Micheal yeah, thats a great question and yesterday we saw announcement on Ford Motor Company that theyll be pulling back reins back in china. Europe is hit harder than the u. S. In the u. S. Roughly 50 mark on the negative side but we will be making positive moves in the future. Maria michael, thank you very much for your insights, great to see you this morning. We will be right back. Stay with us. [narrator] soon, lights will come on. Soon, people will be walking back through your door. Soon, life will move forward. Well welcome back old colleagues, get to know new ones some things may change, but well still be here, right here, so you can work on the business of getting your business back. At paycom, our focus will always be you and well see you soon. Maria welcome back. Good thursday morning, everybody. Thanks so much for joining us. Im Maria Bartiromo. It is thursday, april 30th. Your top stories, 7 00 a. M. On the east coast. On the fast track, the Trump Administration pushing to accelerate Coronavirus Vaccine development as more positive news comes out on gileads remdesivir. Plus, President Trump is looking to punish beijing over its handling of the coronavirus. He is also saying that china will do anything to make him lose the election. This morning another look at the Economic Impact of this pandemic. Initial jobless claims are out in an hour andahalf, 8 30 a. M. Eastern. Economists are expecting another 3. 5 Million People filed for unemployment in the last week. Jay powell promising to do whatever it takes to support the economy yesterday. A bomb shell from the department of justice, the new documents reveal the fbi discussed getting former National Security advisor Michael Flynn to lie, to try to get him fired. Earnings season rolls on this morning, this mornings big names include mcdon at mcdonaldd twitter. Markets are searching for firm direction. We are up and down the last hour, take a look at where we stand with the dow industrials now down 21 points, s p down 6 points, the nasdaq is up 21 points, its a quarter of a percent higher. On top of a strong rally yesterday, the major averages set to snap a three month losing streak. The s p 45 s p 500 on pace for t month since 1974. The nasdaq is up 15 and three quarters percent. This is the final day of the month. Now a fox business alert. Mcdonalds earnings are hitting the wire right now. Weve got the numbers. Lets get to cheryl casone. Cheryl theyve got an earnings per share miss which they are explaining in the release, talking about the impact of covid19 around the world and china. Ill get to that in a second. The estimate for earnings per share was 1. 57. They came in at 1. 47. The stock is almost 1 higher right now. Revenue, the estimate, 4. 65 billion. Pretty much in line, 4. 71 billion. But theyre talking about in particular the business in china, maria, theyre talking about the fact that in the entire First Quarter that china was really at a shutdown which would make sense. And then theyre also talking about they did see an impact from italy, from the u. K. , as well, and then as far as u. S. Same store sales, they talk about the fact that that second half of march around the United States when restaurants were shut down, that is certainly another reason why theyre actually having issues with comparable sales. Even in International Developed markets, comparable sales down 4. 3 . So a miss on the earnings. Little bit higher revenue side. Mcdonalds up, not a big change on the stock right now. All right. Back to you, maria. Maria all right. 189, 50 on mcdonalds shares. Cheryl, thank you. Some of the other top stories this morning, right now new Jersey Governor Phil Murphy will meet with President Trump at the white house today. They will talk about testing and financial help for the state. Murphy says parks and golf courses can reopen in the garden state this weekend. They have been closed since april 7th. A different story in california. Governor gavin newsom announcing a major crackdown, closing all state parks and beaches beginning tomorrow. Newsom blasting those who overcrowded beaches and ignored social distancing rules last weekend. Los angeles offering free coronavirus testing to all of its residents even if they are not showing any symptoms. The la mayor says his is the first major u. S. City to offer free wide scale testing to everyone. He says there is no limit on the number of tests residents can get. Priority will be given to frontline workers and those showing symptoms. About half of californias coronavirus cases are in the los angeles area. Florida set to reopen some businesses this coming monday. There will be restrictions. Governor says hot spots like miamidade, broward and palm beach counties will be excluded from this order for now. Restaurants and stores can open at 25 capacity elsewhere. Outdoor dining will be allowed but tables must be six feet apart. Elective surgeries will be allowed to resume in florida. Promising signs meanwhile, markets are reacting to positive gains from research finding the gilead drug remdesivir having positive effects in helping patients recover more quickly from covid19. President trump and dr. Anthony fauci speaking out on this finding and efforts to get the drug approved by the fda. I want them to go as quickly as they can. Theres never been anything like it. We want everything to be safe. We would like to see very quick approval. The data shows that remdesivir has a clearcut significant positive effect in diminishing the time to recovery. Whenever you have clearcut evidence that a drug works, you have an ethical obligation to immediately let the people who are in the Placebo Group know so they can have access. Maria and gilead has said it will manufacture and donate 1. 5 million doses of remdesivir to hospitals by the end of may. Thats about 200,000 treatment courses. The companys ceo said 50,000 treatment courses are already prepared and ready to ship once that drug is approved. Joining me right now is Raymond James and associates Equity Research director dr. Steven seahouse and back with me Dagen Mcdowell, ryan payne and kelly torrance. Steven, its good to have you back this morning. How significant is the news on remdesivir . When would you expect it to get approved by the fda . Its very significant. Its basically the first large successful Clinical Trial certainly u. S. Based that weve had for covid19. I think emergency use authorization specifically could happen very soon, within days. Thats not a traditional fda approval. That pathway would take a little longer and the standards a little bit higher and im actually not sure the level of evidence we have right now for remdesivir would meet that standard. It may. It may not. There are more Clinical Trials underway that well get data for in may as well. I think something could happen very quickly with respect to emergency use authorization. Thats exciting, because it gives us something to use in hospitalized patients with covid. But full fda approval i think its a little too premature to discuss, given the fact that results frankly have been mixed. The naiid study was positive. Other data sets are little incongruent with what that study reported. Maria so does this news is it enough to get people confident to go back to work, to start going back to life as we knew it and are there other companies or other drugs that youre following that show similar signs of promise in terms of treating coronavirus . This news in and of itself in my opinion is not the magic step or the magic bullet that brings us back to quote, unquote, normal. You have to think about what meeting the primary end point in this instance means and what shortening the time to clinical recovery means. There was no statistically there was no improvement in survival. So its an invalid statistical claim to say it improves survival. There was a trend. There are other studies with this drug that dont show that trend and in fact show the inverse trend. So i think its important to put that into context. This is only being used in hospitalized patients and really only in patients that are on oxygen support but not on invasive mechanical ventilation. All that is to say that its a narrow group of patients that appear to be eligible and benefiting from the drug and thats why i dont think this in and of itself is sufficient to really take give everyone comfort that they can go out and certainly this is a virus you dont want to go out and contract thinking you have a quick treatment that is available to you. And with respect to your other question maria yeah. On other drugs that are available or are being tested, there are too many to name, quite frankly. Some of them look promising. I would characterize virtually all of them, however, as early and the outcomes of the studies for them are uncertain, albeit promising in some instances. Maria dagen, jump in here. Dagen i just want to reiterate what tony fauci said in the oval office yesterday, and this is why showing these live events or even taped events coming out of the white house are so important, because if you looked at his face and you look at the face of dr. Debbie birx, you could see that this was a door opening on treatment of this virus. A therapy, and the quote from him was, what this study proved, it has proven that a drug can block this virus. And that we went and this is the first Building Block of many Building Blocks to developing treatments and i think that that you cannot overstate that enough, that this is a big step forward in getting people out of this is what the trial proved, that people got out of the hospital faster. It was 11 days, four date faster than a placebo. Thats a 31 improvement. I think you hit the nail on the head. I think the really salient point here is that there is a trial that worked and if we can get a trial to work and show benefit for this drug, clearly we can do it for other drugs including ones that are being designed bottomup by Many Companies and thats very encouraging and with most viruses, the final best therapy that we ultimately arrive at is typically combination of drugs. So this is certainly a good first step. Certainly needs to be improved on. And i think we can improve on it, based on what weve seen. I think thats what dr. Fauci was so excited about and rightfully so. Maria steve, weve been talking to you with your doctor hat on. Put your analyst hat on now. Would you buy this stock, gilead right now . Are you recommending these stocks, real quick. We have an outperform rating on gilead, not predicated on the opportunity for remdesivir. The near term opportunity given gileads willingness to donate this drug basically, theres limited npv on the near term opportunity for remdesivir and clearly we dont know what the longterm tail on covid is and we all hope it goes away completely. So remdesivir, theres wide boundary, wide bounds on what the npv is and we dont have it in our model but we are still recommending gilead on the basis of their base business. Maria all right. We will leave it there. Dr. Steven seedhouse, great to see you. Please come back soon. Thank you. Maria we will see you soon. Stay with us. We will be right back. Ng these uncertain times. Misconduct at the top of the fbi, unsealed documents reveal top Bureau Officials debating whether to get former National Security advisor Michael Flynn to lie. The notes showing that the fbis motivations for interviewing flynn in the white house in 2017 were more about him lying than about russia collusion. Former head of counsel terp intelligence bill pretsop wrote this, what is our goal, truth, admission or get him to lie so we can prosecute him or get him fired. Joining me right now is Fox News Contributor andrew mccarthy. Andrew, its good to see you this morning. Thanks very much for being here, andy. Your reef action to what we your reaction to what we saw yesterday, unsealed documents. I think whats happening, maria, is the paper trail is finally catching up to what weve known i think for years, which is that this was a perjury trap, there was no factual basis for criminal investigation of general flynn. They had to do it in a sneaky way and actually dispatch two agents, unbelievably on the grounds of the white house in flynns office on his first day on the job without going through the Justice Department or notifying the white House Counsels office, which is what the protocol was. And i can tell you, when youre trying to do an investigation where youre trying to get at the truth and we were told that the big thing here was russian interference in the election and potential collusion, if you want to get information from a witness and have you a conversation on tape or recording, what you do is you play the conversation for the witness and you say what did this mean, what did that mean, you ask what was going through peoples minds. If thats what youre at, if thats what youre trying to do is get information, thats how you approach it. What they did was they intentionally decided not to play the conversation for flynn, they knew precisely what was on it so they didnt need him to interpret it, and the obvious hope was that he would Say Something that was inaccurate in terms of what they knew was on the conversation so they could try to make a case on him, either for making a false statement or perhaps try to get him fired. One way or the other, they wanted him out of there. Maria and its incredible to me were looking at the flipn timeline here. The Obama Administration did not like general Michael Flynn, i think partly because he was investigating the office of net aset. Eric assessment for example when 2015 an informant was paid money and in 16 informants were paid money. Thats how they paid people for running into Trump Campaign associates and pretty much jim comcomey told us what he was dog when he was on the book tour and he did an interview with msnbc, basically said they went against protocols to get perhaps Michael Flynn to lie. I can never play this tape enough. Its just too good. It tells us everything. Watch this. Yo you look at the white houe and its hard to imagine fbi agents in the state room. How did that happen . I sent them. [ laughter ] something i probably wouldnt have done or maybe gotten away with in a more organized investigation, a more organized administration in the George W Bush administration for example or the Obama Administration. The protocol, two men that all of have perhaps increased appreciation for over the last two years. [ applause ] and in both of those administrations there was process. So if the fbi wanted to send agents into the white house itself, to interview a senior official, you would work through the white House Counsel and there would be discussions and approvals and who would be there and i thought its early enough, lets just send a couple guys over. Maria andy, whats your reaction to this . Ive got to say, all of these years as ive been saying, look, there was no collusion and this was a setup, to laugh like that, i mean, the arrogance and laughing at the fact that you just destroyed a mans life and now general flynn is broke. His reputation is gone. Your reask reaction to that. Well, you know, i know jim comey for a long time. He was a very fine prosecutor. I imagine if he had a case where somebody said look what i got away with, which is what he says on that tape, that would be a pretty good piece of evidence for him. And one of the things that amazes me about this, maria, is he was a very high ranking official retained in the Trump Administration. His job was to uphold the protocols and make sure that the fbi was observing and honoring them. To see him sabotage them and for nothing more than what appears to be a perjury trap because there doesnt seem to have been any investigative or Counter Intelligence reason to do this, it boggles the mind. Maria do you think there will be accountability here . The notes reveal the fbi was talking about the potential risk of not adhering to the rules. If we were seen as playing games, the white house will be furious. All of these notes, were putting this together and its been three plus years. We saw criminal charges initially, referred to for andy mccabe. Do you think anybody is going to take the fall here and actually face accountability for a complete coop tcomplete coup ton President Trump while he was president. There has already been important accountability. We miss this sometimes. But not only jim comey and andy mccabe and strzok and page, theyre all gone. No one who was involved in the investigation is there. Secondly, we know the attorney general has mentioned in the last couple weeks that this is being treated as a serious criminal investigation. So well have to let them do their work and see what happens. The last thing id say is heres what id like to see happen. Id like to see the judge give general flynn his plea back and at that point the ball would be in the court of the Justice Department and the fbi. Somebody ought to ask them, would they dare go into federal court with this case and try to try it. Maria thats right. Which is why its absolutely incredible to think that hes not going to be exonerated from all of this. I mean, weve got it in black and white. Andy, well be checking back with you for sure many thanks very much. Aandrew mccarthy joining us this morning with that. Mornings with maria continues right after this break. Technology earnings in focus this morning, twitter reporting earlier this hour, swinging to a loss for the first time in two years. The company also posted stronger user growth since going public. Facebook and microsoft reporting last night, both stocks are surging on strong results we saw with as you can see facebook up 8 , microsoft up 1 and three quarters percent, look at twitter, up 8 and a third percent. Joining us now is Portfolio Manager dan morgan. Dan, good to see you. Your reaction to the earnings that weve seen . Lets start with twitter. Well, from what i can tell so far, maria, looks like it was a relatively good number. We were looking for a loss of three cents. We knew they were going to have a quarter to quarter dropoff in terms of their advertising revenues. I was looking for about 658 million, so anything north of that would be a positive. But i think its the theory i think behind twitter probably most likely is that things werent as bad as what everybody expected and were also looking for daily average users and Monthly Average users to grow like we had seen with facebook last night. So maybe the good news is it wasnt as bad as what everybody expected. Maria yeah, and also some of these companies i guess do well in a shutdown, where people are home doing things on facebook, et cetera. Lets bring ryan payne in. Go ahead, ryan. Hey, dan. I get a little concern. The big five is reporting this week, 20 of the s p, microsoft shalapple, amazon, facebook, go. Valuations arent cheap there anymore and such a huge concentration in the s p and amazon is eight times forward earnings. Does that concern you in terms of how frothy the stocks are geting. Youre right. Before we went into the big correction if you looked at the fang stocks they represented 18 of the total s p 5 listen in terms of market cap. I think were seeing a redo of that, right and i think the fact that we had pretty good numbers so far, right, we had netflix had a great quarter last weeking earlier this week we had facebook and microsoft report numbers that were above expectations. Well get amazon and apple in the next day or two. But it looks like those companies are continuing to execute and show relatively pretty good year over year growth even though quarter to quarter growth wasnt as great as everybody hoped. Theyre still doing a lot better than lets say the airlines or the energy stocks, right. And some of these other sectors like leisure and travel. So again, you just see money going where the growth is and this is where the growth is. Maria so would you buy apple or amazon . Theyre both reporting after the close tonight. So well be talking about those tomorrow. Coronavirus affecting each company differently. What are you expecting from apple and amazon tonight . Well, maria, i mean, apple everyone thinks is going to have a tough quarter. Theyve all documented their issues. Were looking for about 25 andahalf billion in revenues in terms of iphone sales, a drop of 17 . But i would expect wearables to do extremely well. Thats expected to grow about 16 . That was up 37 in the Fourth Quarter. And also services should be up about 18 . So i would expect good things from apple. Amazon, everyone knows how well theyve done, right, maria, in terms of the stay at home, buy up stuff over the web. I think the big issues to focus on them is going to be costs associated with the new hires, they hired about 100,000 people, and also costs associated with their prime members in terms of paying 119 to get Free Shipping and of course you have all this increase in people using your site so your shipping and fulfillment costs go up. Both of those stocks are on our buy list and for obviously a client who has an appropriate risk objective, we would be buying those shares. Maria all right. We will leave it there. Dan, good to see you. Thanks so much. Thank you, maria. Maria dan morgan joining us this morning. Maria thank you. Meanwhile, we are reopening the economy and we continue to see that happen across the country, several top Business Leaders agree that widespread testing is actually crucial to getting the country moving again. Rite aid is expanding the drivethrough coronavirus testing sites to 25 locations in eight states with the capacity to administer 400 self swab tests per day at each location. Joining me is the president and ceo of rite aid, Heyward Donigan. Its grade t great to have you s morning. Tell us about the testing expansion, very important to getting things moving across the country. Well, its great to be here live, sotospeak, coming to you from the great state of virginia where i had the opportunity to see two of our new testing sites up and running. As you said, we do have 25 sites in eight states. We will be expanding actually adding to our drivethrough testing as well. But we do have the capacity to test 400 people a day. We wish that we had more people coming. Were still not seeing the full volume of people making appointments to get these tests. And anyone with symptoms over the age of 18 is eligible to get the test. You have to go online to riteaid. Com and make an appointment. Its amazing to watch. Its very quick. People stay in their cars. Its very safe. Theres social distancing from the pharmacist and they get the results back in anywhere between two in some cases two to five days and most people are not testing positive. Its actually a fairly small number of people who do test positive so think about how reassuring it would be if you were the one that found out you actually didnt have the coronavirus. Maria yeah, and that gives you so much more confidence to go back to work and get back to normal. I know that you and other top industry executives meeting with President Trump this week at the white house as part of this Coronavirus Task force, can you tell us about the visit, your takeaway . Well, it was a terrific visit. Im so impressed with the president and the team that has been running this, admiral gorwall in particular. We had an opportunity to meet with the whole team and discuss the advances in testing, not just the drivethrough testing for those with symptoms, but also the Antibody Testing that you might have heard has just become available and i think the big question right now is whats the strategy for widespread testing and how will employers and employees really use these tests as you said earlier to feel more comfortable to go back to work. Because clearly, the economy is starting to open and i myself employ 50,000 associates and we believe that testing is going to be helpful to us to not to keep these stores open, which weve been able to keep all of our stores open, and to also keep our Distribution Centers open and our central fill and our mail order facilities open as well. So i think its still early days in terms of how the administration is thinking about widespread testing. This is clearly the first step. Because between all of us who are doing different tests in these different locations along with Antibody Testing, certainly the availability of testing is much more widespread than it has been before. Maria thats very good news. So heyward, how would you characterize business right now . Rite aid has seen some market share fall, the stock fall in recent years. You took over as president and ceo in august and spent months working on a turnaround plan. One thing you said after the Fourth Quarter Earnings Report in the call you said there was a decrease in acute scripts. This concerns me. Im wondering during the covid19 pandemic are people not taking or not keeping up with their regular medicines . What are you seeing in terms of prescriptions and tell us about business today. Well, business is good and retail is actually quite strong. We do see fewer people but when they come, as you can imagine, they buy a lot. They dont want to be coming a lot. But business is actually good. And on the retail side. On the medication side, absolutely right, we had a surge of maintenance medications, people stocking up. Because no one can go to the doctor, theyre not getting any acute medications so were not having the medications prescribed around surgical procedures because theyre not having surgical procedures. I think a positive note that we talk about in Mental Health and my background i have a business background in the Mental Health business, Mental Health prescriptions are staying strong so people are taking care of their Mental Health. But they just havent been able to go to the doctor or get surgery. So were not seeing those drugs. And i presume that the Health Systems will open up sooner than later and that that business will bounce back but overall i would say, listen, its full steam ahead at rite aid. We havent lost a beat. We havent missed a step in terms of executing on our strategy and despite the costs that were incurring to keep everyone safe, we are seeing positive signs in our retail business. Maria well, thats terrific to know. Thank you for that and thank you to all of your employees. They are frontline workers as well and we certainly need you there at rite aid so thank you, heyward. We will see you soon. Thanks for joining us this morning. Thanks so much. Maria Heyward Donigan there from right ate. More americans are struggling to pay credit card bills. Visit paycom. Com, and schedule your demo today. Maria welcome back. The state of the consumer, march personal income and consumption data will be out in less than an hour this morning. It is expected there will be 5 decline in spending, the largest on record. Joining us to talk more about that, discover Financial Services ceo and president , roger hokchild. Thank you for being here. How would you assess the consumer today . You know, i think weve never seen this much pain for the consumer. As i look at the sales data that i see every day from discover, youre seeing categories like restaurant spending down 60 , gasoline down 60 , and then hardest hit of all is travel where sales are down 99 year over year. Maria well, youre also seeing on the other side of the ledger furloughs and job cuts, right . I mean, now discoveries lowering its credit limits for new customers. Do you have any plans to lower credit limits for current customers . So weve made no changes in terms of our policies around credit limits for current customers, whether its inactive accounts or active accounts. We tightened back a bit on the number of credit limit increases we are giving but your point is right. After todays job claims, we could see close to 30 million unemployment claims over the last six weeks. So clearly an unprecedented amount of consumer stress. Maria so were seeing a big increase in reserves, certainly for people. Are they paying their bills on time . What can you tell us in terms of their own credit . So one of the things we put in place is a series of programs across all of our lending products to help consumers if they need a little support right now. And so for our credit card, for example, we have a skip a pay program. They can skip for one month. If they need to, they can skip for another month. So i think in terms of how that translates into actual delinquencies and chargeoffs, its really going to depend on the pace of the recovery. Maria and what kind of a pace are you expecting . You know, its hard to know what to expect. My hope certainly is a fast recovery. Its going to depend on the decisions that medical professionals make in terms of how quickly the economy can open up. But this level i would say right now is just unsustainable. Maria ryan payne. Just to that point, basically you have the financial crisis which the consumer was in much worse shape going into that, i mean you actually had a savings rate that was highly positive going into this not to mention all the government stimulus. To your point, this could be a really, really fast recovery on your end in the consumer could bounce back very quickly here. Yeah, were clearly seeing a lot of government stimulus. Its taken a bit of time for that to work its way to the average consumer but the government has stepped in in a way with this financial crisis, whether its stabilizing the markets or payments to Small Businesses and consumer in a way weve never seen before. So our hope and i think everyone in business hope is that will help bridge this gap which our view is its closer to a Natural Disaster than a traditional recession. Maria wow. Roger, thanks very much for joining us. Well be watching the developments. Tough time right now for business. Well see you soon, sir. Maria all right, interesting as china, also is trying to race to get vaccine first, as u. S. Jackie thank you Jackie Deangelis latest on remdesivir moving markets, now reopening the economy, florida Governor Ron Desantis announcing on monday restaurants seniors to will be allowed to open 25 capacity the oil wills excluded Miamidade Broward and palm beach counties for now. It does represent a bigger trend as states like georgia texas have also begun to reopen, joining us right now to talk more about that former hewlettpackard ceo former republican president ial candidate Carly Fiorina great to see you hope you are doing well thanks for joining us. Well thank you so much for having me maria great to be with you yes, i am safe and well. An important thing, but these are indeed strange sad times honestly. What do you think what do you think about reopening the economy which right now how should it be done . Well, first of all, i think these are very difficult choices for governors, so lets give them all some slack i think they are very difficult calls. What i am surprised by honestly is so many states are moving to reopen before they have met the criteria that the Trump Administration laid out which was to say the first gate 14 days declining cases i dont think any of the states that are starting to reopen, have met that criteria, so that is a little bit surprising to me, but i understand the pressure. The other thing that i would say these are very difficult decisions for businesses imagine you are a restaurant, and you depend on one hundred percent of volume to make ends meet, now you are told you only get 25 . Those are agonizing choices because there are real costs to reopen, costs for your waitstaff for food for prep. You have to do that on 25 volume that is tough call. And i think a lot of Small Businesses will choose by necessity not to open, and, finally, of course, there is Consumer Behavior i think he consumers are traumatized i dont think they are going to rush back, to spend in the way they did before this. Maria yeah. And they need help, youve spoken out against bailouts in the past, against 500 billion dollars area marked for corporations in cares act 2. 2 trilliondollar phase threes stimulus package, what do you think Congress Needs to do at this point to hold corporations accountabling still help Small Businesses theyve come up with a plan with airlines to take equity stakes through warrants. Is that a plan you would see happening more in terms of Corporate Public companies . The well i think it is just a bad idea. In our economy. For the federal government to be taking equity stakes in Big Companies i think that is a bad plan, leads to a concentration of economic power and political power not good for anybody, except washington and Big Companies, i am all for the aggressive stimulus that the fed and congress is putting forward what i have not been for what i have been very public about we should not be giving taxpayer money in bailouts of any form to Big Companies. Why . Because they have tools and wherewithal that Small Businesses working families dont, they have Federal Reserve backing them up big banks backing them up credit lines bankruptcy laws allow them to continue to pay employees operate meanwhile, Small Businesses have virtually none of this i think we made wrong priority call here. Set aside big biggest they have enough to survive focus up a firepower on Small Businesses, and working families, and communities. Of the and i hope that the next step is not for the federal government to decide where money goes because they are far away from the problem but block grant money to governors, because governors are closer to the problem i think they can make better priority calls, they are more accountable, because they are closer to the ground. And my fear in all this maria although i support aggressive stimulus, that is when we are all done with this, the federal government has a lot more power Big Companies have a lot more power, and meanwhile, we are losing the Small Businesses that give our economy job creation, as well as character in our communities. Maria yeah, something, by the way, you brailled for a lot of years now you railed about a lot of years. Consistent. Joining us this morning that is right we will see you soon stay safe thank you. Thank you very much for joining us you said all of this in 2018 when you came out with your nunes notes the devin nunes letter, which basically outlined what the leadership of the fbi andy were doing to take down donald trump it was a coup your reaction to what we learned from these documents yesterday. He would say that we need judge to do right thing we need doj to do right thing we need lawyers he to be investigated, and i would say overall par 4a we talked about this on your sunday show, i told you that there are three reports, that really need to be analyzed investigated one, of course, is the Steele Fusion gpe. A clinton paid for dossier the other is assessment after 2016 investigation i call ob bacas dossier the Mueller Report mueller widow also how i define them they are needs an entire investigation of all of those people that were involved all the lawyers, everybody from doj fwooib all the way down mostly likely we have found discrepancies in that Mueller Report running investigation we have a small team House Intelligence Committee but bottom line with flynn, is this. Maria we knew from essentially day one, early on in 2017 and that he was innocent. How do we know that . Because the top officials at fbi told us so. This wasnt rocket science, then you talked about the report that we did so we have the Gold Standard House Republican report is really the Gold Standard of reports in fact, there are no other reports to even look at the others are all based on lies or inknew endo or corruption. So our report was right at the time, and you may recall this, but we had to fight for nearly two months our report we put it out said there was no evidence of collusion, we also had very Important Information in there about general flynn. It said that we had evidence that general flynn did not lie. This was from fbi why in the report, but when that report first came out all the Mainstream Media essentially operators of Democratic Party now i think obvious if people dont know that now they were in on this okay from the very beginning media was in on this covered up our report we had to fight with ig, and doj so that we could get general flynn information unredact unredeclassified almost two months another investigation who the hell is at fbi that keeps covering this having in up i get it not good for the fbi, but i want to know who at fbi keeps covering this up. Because there are continued redactions i know, devin you have been on my show now several years, and i remember throughout 2017 you would come on every sunday educate me about what was going on you and John Ratcliffe a couple colleagues you saw unredacted material knew what was happening a coup to take rhythm down you had to have such courage to do that entire country was up in arms saying donald trump colluded with russians i got slammed because i was seeking truth from you and your colleagues every sunday would come in say oh, my god i cant believe what we learned day right away, jim comey arrogance to go on a book tour talked about it laughing at general flynn that is when he sent agents over there disregarded the section 1001 means you have to tell anybody who you are going to throw agents at that you might want to bring a lawyer listen to what he said when interviewed on book tour watch this. You look at this white house now, hard to emergency two fbi agents, how did it happen. I sent them. [laughter]. Um something we i probably wouldnt have done maybe gotten away with, in a more organized investigation more organized administration george w. Bush administration, for example, or Obama Administration protocol two men all of a sudden perhaps increased appreciation for over last two years [applause]. And both administrations there was process, so at fbi wanted to send agents into the white house itself, to interview a senior official would you work through white House Counsel there would be discussions of approvals who would be there i thought early enough lets just send a couple guys over. Maria just told us right there, and they are laughing about it congressman this guy general flynn is a three star general lost reputation, lost all of his money, paying lawyers, carter page, he was wiretapped because he was associated with donald trump. We know now, that at least two of the four wiretaps were unlawfully dodge said i am sticking my neck out saying all four unlawful full would there be accountability. You wouldnt be sticking neck out very far definitely all illegal a conspiracy to so, so when i first heard that clip i saw that just infewerated me i had seen information through the something more, that perverted about that i dont know who is asking those questions i dont know what reporter that is where that person works, that is sick that reporter is a sick person the people in that audience, are also sick. And this is the problem, as you had and you see it all the time, okay, by these are people should know better but dont care. These are media personnel like employees Democratic National committee they have the documents they have fusion gps documents many cases remember, it was Washington Post that ran with the information that ultimately got flynn fired that was a classified leak of of it was a leak classified information of a phone call, that was picked up, general flynn talking to ambassador. So the sick part about this you had media the democrats, all these dirty cops, they poisoned millions of americans maria. So much so that every day we still deal with this that American People think that general flynn and republicans are somehow russian agents. It was same agents working on Hillary Clinton email investigation same, peter strzok lying here were they lying there congressman good to see you. Thank you. Women reaching earnings yesterday with revenue beating estimates but suffering a loss in earnings, joining me right now fox business exclusive teladoc ceo thanks for joining us tell us about the quarter what is behind the earnings, and even more importantly what kind of visibility do you have in the future because i think a lot of things that weve been dealing with during this pandemic will continue after we are out of this one important one is telemedicine tell us about it. Hi, maria. Thanks for having me on i appreciate it we had a quarter that we preannounced two weeks ago, where we raised our estimates for revenue by ten Million Dollars, we delivered at high end of that range. And i think more importantly, for investors, we gave an outlook for the Second Quarter full year full year raised revenue guidance by over 100 Million Dollars i think you are exactly right. The transformation of care where health care now comes to the consumer is here. And we are happy to be leading that transformation. Maria so so you do think this continues, after we are out of this then . Yeah, there is no question. I think three things have really changed consumer awareness, and acceptance of virtual care has massively increased and embracing virtual care, second, hospitals Health Systems and physicians who work within them who were even a few months ago reluctant to gauge are now doing so with High Satisfaction productivity, third we are seeing regulators significantly change to embrace virtual care. Maria all right jason thanks very much come back soon, we love the story like to talk more but jobless claims right after this break breaking news coming thank you jason. Well be right back. [narrator] soon, lights will come on. Soon, people will be walking back through your door. Soon, life will move forward. Maria welcome back, we have fox business alert right now weekly jobless claims hitting a tape cheryl with number over to you. Cheryl estimate 3 1 2 million coming in 3. 8 4 million maria again initial jobless claims for last week 3. 84 million the range was between 2 and 5 million this now takes us pushing 30 million claims over a six week period folks also continuing claims, wanted to look at that, because continuing claims coming in at 17. 99 million that is lower than estimate, of 19. 24 million for continuing claims, again so looking at that number we are also looking at spending, march personal spend downing 7 1 2 percent personal spend for march coming in more than expected. And overall as looking at looking at a loss of 2 again as you can see on income, a loss of 2 estimate was 1. 5 so more than 7 loss on personal consumption estimate 5 personal income for march 2 , to the downside estimate 1 1 2 we are pushing maria, 0 million claims, in last six weeks for initial jobless claims it is just it is stunning numbers you can see Market Reaction on your screen maria. Numbers obviously, are ugly numbers terrible numbers but at the same time i am wondering if we are slooeflg leveling out estimate 3. 5 million we keep watching this obviously, dont want 30 million Unemployment Benefits filed that is exactly where we are going here in last six weeks, Dagen Mcdowell quick comment on initial jobless claims in six uniques weeks 30 that would take Unemployment Rate percentage of workforce north 18 , 18. 4 , but i reiterate every week individuals lives have been upended overnight their livelihoods families, are families are just shaken by all this, you could backlogs states, in many states, numbers could continue to pile up, there are problems for people who are selfemployed filing for Unemployment Benefits, and all those Small Businesses if they dont get help, going to end up to having lay off their employees, if they dont get that paycheck protection loan grants, you are going to see layoffs in the weeks to come but thankfully some states are reopening, if people can start working again, that is safely that is blessing. Maria so lets talk with one of the best he researchers out there one of my favorite economists on planet for years get reaction from you Research President ed thank you very much being here. I am so happy you are on the show once again what is your reaction to the job claims, ed . And overall, your reaction to where we are in this recession right now. Well as you described it maria, ugly numbers shockingly bad. Not surprisingly bad. Clearly we have been expecting to see some terrible numbers, when shut down an economy the way we have, we are going to get these unemployment numbers, it is about 30 Million People that are employed in industries have been most affected, talking about airlines, retailers Casinos Hotels i dont think all got fired i think a lot of other businesses knockon effects, but 18, 20 numbers depression like numbers hopefully opening economying seeing worst right now i think that is what the market is anticipating. Ed do you think this is going to work all the money that is being thrown out you are talking about, more than seven trillion dollars in stimulus thrown at this economy money flooding economy Federal Reserve chairman yesterday jay powell obviously, keeping rates low, but saying that he is expecting an unprecedented drop in Economic Activity in the Second Quarter, the estimates go from 20 contraction to 30 contraction for a Second Quarter is it going to work that all this money is being flooding the economy and that as we start to reopen, parts of the economy . Well it is certainly not going to revive the economy by itself we need to continue to make progress against the virus so we can start make progress on economic front, and i think we are moving in the right direction, both cases where the fed had tremendous impact another front the financial front the fed has gone from using bazookas to b52 bombers carpet bottoming economy Financial Markets with trillions dollars of cash, as you said, that opened up the credit markets when had been seizing up in march pandemic of fear really spread in the Capital Market kind of evaporated, and suddenly we are seeing people snapping up bonds and snapping up stocks at least not getting a credit crunch would have been a disaster on top of all other disasters we have seen piling up. I am a big fan of Research First ive i am in camp wildly optimistic here my firm one of the only called reporting virtuality shaped recovery i love your analogy of bazooka dont flood fed one thing always believed we saw this back in 2008. And a lot of shortages on market we can see mother of short squeezes, this market if keeps going higher what do you think with prices we are optimistic we think market going higher i am curious what your thoughts are. Well i am not sure we can really describe this as a free market anymore the Central Banks around the world big ones have really moved into the bond markets in a big way. And indirectly that is had embank on stock markets because it is servers looking at near zero bond yieldsfying about as good as going to get, by the way, bond yields continue to go down negative territory in u. S. About pushes into stock market mindboggling what weve seen the forward p e based on in thes expectations rocket shipped from 12 march 23, to 20. 1 yesterday, i mean it is it is heady stuff never seen anything quite like it. Yesterday powell said he wasnt much concerned about asset prices just concerned about the economy so i think you are on to something is quite corn sooevenl market, p e higher earnings expectations going to move lower is market beyond economy or simply driven by liquidity i think probably both. That is interesting markets been doing exactly what it needs to do that is provide liquidity, and cornerstone macro, by the way, said rates where they are right now will stay low until 2023. You make a good point on earnings, today we had more big names reporting mcdonalds American Airlines twitter conocophillips comcast all Top Companies reporting tonight apple and amazon reporting after the will be, ed how do you allocate capital then if you are expecting rates to stay where they are, ultimately pushing people into equities, what do you want to do in terms of your own are portfolio who you you want to capitalize on that move. When so much liquidity around, in Financial Markets tends to benefit all assets, and some ways the fed is practicing no asset left behind any asset has been lagging or illiquidity flooded with liquidity directly or indirectly but from money perspective i think the economy is going to see a tremendous amount of consolidation of industries creamount m a activity, energy stands out obviously, candidate i think health care, technology industrials could see a lot of m a activity, the big getting bigger the bigger surviving fine in current environment prospering in some areas i think focus should be on Technology Health care, anything digital anything biological the wave of the future of economy post what i call great virus crisis. Maria yeah, that makes a lot of acceptance a lot of trends that we are doing well were shut down will probably continue something i have been saying Digital Economy accelerates from here given shutdown. Dagen i want to know what this country potentially looks like, where the government has basically taken over pushed out private businesses, at the same time the fed is out there rescuing Larger Companies if you are publicly traded you are fine. But there has been a real problem, getting money to those Small Businesses, make up half the workforce. The money went out, but there are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of businesses didnt get money from Paycheck Protection Program at least initially what does this economy look like we are i was joking with friends but new york city is you are literally going to have choice eating at an olive garden or mcdonalds but swath of our country in terms of businesses could just disappear and you have all of these big chains saved Amazon Effect times 1,000. Sadly but true could lose a tremendous amount of diversification, the spice of economy is always Small Businesses constantly bringing new products and services, to us make lives better. Having things kind of blend by having fewer choices not ideal situation i am not a he preachr i am investment strategist, accomplish or bearish, in terms of answering your question as i said we are going to see more consolidation the reality is absolutely, as you said, government has always been big keeps getting bigger the fed is part of the government the fed was originally created to brings you Financial Stability somewhere along the way decided they were going to manage the Business Cycle look where we are now. So, i think that businesses realize you got to do business with government Big Companies are in a position to do that. Dont think Paycheck Protection Program is working . Well it was designed to carry us through two months, the underlying assumption two months lockdown staying home to get through this. I think it is hitandmiss i think it is not the not working as well as it should be working think probably a lot of money that isnt going exactly where it should be going i think this is small restaurants just dont have Good Relationships with banks, you know sadly, to get the money you probably have to have a really Good Relationship with your bank if you did you probably didnt need the money. Maria a good Point Community banks really need money where main street banks, ed great to see you final word. Thanks very much. What . There was a all right. Oh, well, i think it goes all around. I mean, youre talking about campari, apple spritz is a great cocktail. It just goes down the line. As you mentioned on the outset, you know, with folks having happy hours, utilizing facetime or zoom, its just been really, really a fascinating time for our industry.
