Well, it is time for the hot topic of the hour, House Oversight chair james comer blasting the hunter biden special Council Appointment writing in a statement, he says, quote, this move by attorney general car l garland is part oe justice departments efforts to attempt a biden family coverup in light of the committees mounting evidence. Maria asked texas senator ted cruz about this yesterday on sunday morning futures. Maria who has the upper hand from your standpoint in terms of the constitution, is it the special council, dave weiss who may be able to freeze all information flow to congress or is it congressional lawmakers and congressional investigators who have unearthed all of this evidence . Its both. The allegations are that hunter was selling official favors from daddy when he was Vice President of the united states. This is often discussed as hunters business dealings. This was not hunters business dealings. This was joe bidens business. Hunter was the salesman but the product was joe bidens personal favors and that is if true corruption at the very highest level of government. Cheryl this as Hunter Bidens legal team is responding to the justice departments decision to drop his case in delaware. They are arguing that the settlement was negotiated fairly and in good faith had with prosecutors. Thats a big question mark there. I want to point what the wall street journal writes in an oped, they write Merrick Garland belly flopped again to the 2024 campaign. Honestly, this is amazing. Were talking with the special council, the goal of the special council, theyre supposed to be impartial, not supposed to be interested in the outcome in favor of the government. What does that mean when we have someone wh has actually stalledn investigation to the point where it surpasses whats required in order for somebody to prosecute it. From delaware, the state, the home state of the president , and theres other incidents theres a lot of suspicion with weiss. Were questioning why did we choose weiss. Theyre not supposed to be federal officials. Thats kind of in the law it. Cheryl theres been a lot of back and forth too. You know, mark, he apparently lobbied for it and then he was denied but then this week Merrick Garland makes the appointment. Again, why him . And in particular, i think the criticism of weiss is the tax charges, felony and gun charges, that was such a sweetheart deal. Hes the special council now . To charises points, they were dragging their feet until the statute of limitations expired on the big time charges. Thats absolutely ludicrous. You look at the appointment of david weiss. Its almost like you would think on the surface level republicans might be okay with it because you have a trump appointed attorney, you finally have the special council investigation, but this is its tainted, right . We have a guy who brokered the sweetheart deal, we have a guy who was dragging his feet on the felony tax charges and it seems more and more so today that we are living in a twotiered justice system, right . I mean, you have one party which they get nailed and then youve got another party that can kind of skate free and do whatever they want but as we look at the special council investigation, i hope hes going to be as thorough and as fair as it should be. That remains to be seen whether or not that will happen. Cheryl in particular, because and the journal writes this as well, this is politically convenient for weiss and garland, means both men can use the excuse of an Ongoing Investigation to refuse to answer any questions from congress. Thats the big story here. I think Merrick Garland is going to get exactly what his goal is out of this which is to bury as much as possible and drag this out past the elections which ultimately theyre trying to do here. Cheryl theres also this, democratic congressman dan goldman blaming former President Trump for Hunter Bidens plea deal falling apart. Watch this. And thats why this plea agreement has broken down, because of the threat of Donald Trumps weaponization of the department of justice if he were to become president. Were talking about a threat of donald trump weaponizing the doj but what were experiencing in real life is the reality of the Biden Crime Family weaponizing the doj. I mean, unfortunately, this is already happening and i think what President Trump would intend to do is do everything he can to level the Playing Field and make sure that if there were crimes that were happening, because theyre talking about 20 plus Million Dollars now of deposits that the biden family has received. The White House Asking Congress for 40 billion in new funding. Theres 24 billion for ukraine, theres 12 billion for disaster relief. I think we can agree some of that money is needed for hawaii. Only 4 billion for the border and the fentanyl crisis, only 4 billion when new york cities about to spend 12 billion on migrant shelters. Axios is reporting part of the border money would go to a temporary Housing Program for my grand families. That would give them more freedom. Your thoughts on the fact that billions more goes to ukraine when only 4 billion is going to our border . Well, it just goes to show that theres mixed up priorities with this administration. We need to be focusing on the border. I want to understand too the proposal they have for dollars going to ukraine. Listen, i am adamantly in support of helping ukraine against this unprovoked attack from russia but i want to make sure we understand where every dollar is going there. Ive been at the forefront of making sure those dollars reflect transparency and accountability. There shouldnt be a blank check going to ukraine and there should be a reflection of the priorities of this nation first and foremost with the proposals that come to us from the white house and its pretty obvious this one does not reflect what the priorities of this nation should be.
