Federal court judge dismisses application to stop Fond du Lac election
A federal court judge has dismissed an application for an interim injunction to stop the Fond du Lac Denesuline First Nation election.
In a decision on Friday, Justice Sebastian Grammond said there was no immediate urgency that would validate granting the injunction and the applicants should take any grievances they may have to the First Nation’s election appeal board tribunal.
The election for chief and council has already been delayed numerous times since the current administration’s term expired in September.
The vote was originally scheduled for Oct. 16, then was rescheduled for Nov. 19 and then rescheduled again for last Friday only to be cancelled yet again.
