Seattle Police Department sweep Cal Anderson Park after federal judge denies restraining order by Callie Craighead, SeattlePI The Seattle Police Department began clearing homeless encampments and barricades created by protesters out of Cal Anderson Park early Friday morning after a federal judge struck down an effort to stop the city's planned sweep on Thursday. Dressed in riot gear, police issued a dispersal order at 7:30 a.m. and began the sweep before 8 a.m. as campers and protesters scrambled. Seattle Parks crews were able to enter the park to begin their "multi-day intensive maintenance and cleaning project." 24 arrests were made for trespassing, failure to disperse, resisting arrest and obstructing arrest.
