08/03/21 Nearly 6,000 Final Fantasy 14 accounts have been terminated by Square Enix as they look to clamp down on real money trading in-game. The publisher announced in a recent news post that they were forced to take action, banning 5000 accounts for RMT (real money trading) while banning a further 814 for advertising RMT services. – ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW – For those Final Fantasy 14 players who may be blissfully unaware, it’s not uncommon to see accounts dotted around Eorzea’s social hubs offering to trade items, currency, and other in-game services for real money. These transactions take place outside the game and can often lead to be players being scammed. Not only that, real money trading violates the game’s terms of service, Square Enix warning that it will investigate reported cases and hand out additional bans.
