First ‘Jolly’ in two years a great success Updated May 18, 2021; JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. -- After the event fell victim to the COVID-19 outbreak in 2020, the annual Jolly McCarty Memorial weekend returned and, despite some changes still resulting from the pandemic, was hailed as a success by both those involved and those attending. The two-day event, which features a Friday night gala and Saturday golf tournament, is the largest fundraiser each year for the Bacot-McCarty Foundation, which distributes the monies raised to local non-profit organizations such as the YMCA, Boys & Girls Club, Lynn Meadows Discovery Center, and the DREAM program, as well as through college scholarships for local students.
