An early childhood education (ECE) centre chain has had all but one of its centres permanently closed after failing to meet Ministry of Education standards.
Discoveries Educare ECE has had to close five centres around Auckland, Katrina Casey, the Ministry of Education's deputy secretary sector enablement and support, confirmed on Friday.
The Te Atatu Peninsula, Highland Park, Kelston and Rata Street centres were shut due to not meeting ministry standards set out in a provisional licence by the specified date, while the licence of the Kolmar Rd centre was cancelled as the centre had permanently closed.
