Jason Wheeler, Community Information Specialist, Flagler County Schools Last week was a week of celebration and honors on all our campuses! It was National School Counseling Week so the great work our guidance counselors do was recognized and honored, and Friday was School Crossing Guard Appreciation Day. If you get a chance, thank one of our crossing guards. They’re out there in rain and sun, hot and cold, and always with a great attitude! Belle Terre Elementary School Fifth-graders in Ed and Theresa Wolff’s classes have been reading "A Long Walk to Water." This story is about two 11-year-olds in Sudan. The girl, Nya, makes two trips daily to fetch water from a pond that is a two hours’ walk from her home. Students simulated this walk to get a better understanding of and empathy for Nya’s character.
