The council approved an ordinance to join the program that includes 16 municipalities throughout Hunterdon County, and parts of Mercer and Morris counties. The borough already belongs to such a program for its municipal energy usage. The Hunterdon Area Energy Cooperative acts as a broker to find the best electric rate for residents of the16 municipalities it represents with an emphasis on providing both low rates and more renewal energy sources than a rate payer would normally receive if shopping for rates on their own.
