Flint police report city’s first homicide of 2021 on New Year’s Day Updated Jan 14, 2021; Posted Jan 01, 2021 Facebook Share FLINT, MI -- Michigan State Police and the Flint Police Department are reporting the city of Flint’s first homicide of the year. At roughly 9 a.m. Friday, Flint police responded to reports of a man slumped over the driver’s seat of a vehicle at the 700 block of West Dewey Street. Officers found a man in his 30s suffering from several gunshot wounds, who was then pronounced dead at the scene. The city of Flint experienced a spike in violent crime in 2020. Flint hired a new police chief in 2020. Terence Green was sworn in Sept. 3, outside Flint City Hall.
