Floodwaters from Tropical Storm Elsa recede in North Port

City spokesman Josh Taylor said in a Monday release that some roads in low-lying areas are still unpassable, but no water rescues were necessary.
“We continue to check street levels, continue measurements, and maintain a presence in the affected area,” he added. “No homes are currently under the threat of water intrusion.”
In addition, stormwater from the 594-square-mile Myakka River Watershed flows south through North Port and out into Port Charlotte.
The city is regularly monitoring the U.S. Geological Survey rain gauges both at State Road 72 and Tropicaire Boulevard, and water levels at both continue to go down.
