Foard: It feels really good to go back-to-back Subject:* A friend wanted you to see this item from High School OT: https://wr.al/1Jld8 Fred T. Foard's volleyball team repeated as the 2A state champion on Saturday, and in a season that was anything but normal, repeating felt good. Show Transcript coach Lombardi and the to a state champion, Fred T. Four High school Tigers. So, coach Congratulations. Back to back championships and a job well done. I'll just ask you to give a brief opening statement on day. We'll take questions from the room before we take some questions off. Soon on, we'll let you guys go celebrate. Okay, go ahead and introduce your players if you don't like you said, I'm Marty. This is senior Meghan Dorsey and senior Michelle Tap. So I would just like the first day thank you to Green Level High School for providing this facility for us. That was great on there and then make Michael what? What a team to compete against. We knew they had some good players, and, you know, that was our focus and to set a good block. And it's just really exciting to be here again. And, you know, it's always a goal of of ours. Toe be here again, and then cove it and everything crazy. We push through all these obstacles that were here and it just feels really, really good toe be back to back state champions for two way, so it couldn't be more proud of the team could be more proud of the seniors here resting up to others. But this is really an awesome experience, I think, for myself and then for the girls to experience something like this, too. So it's been really fun. Questions from in the room coach talked about. You know, it's kinda appropriate. Michelle, just the last match deciding kill. There's talk about all she's not here for, obviously, to straight. BP's to say right. Well, I think with Michelle's play, she is a very dominant player, and I think that shows she is just all over the court all the time. She wants the ball all the time, but I'm I mean, with Michelle. She's just a very powerful player. She knows how to read the ball. Um, she's a leader on this team, and I mean, she deserves every bit of that. But I also think I'm gonna hit on Meghan, too, because she's right there. They've been through this together the whole time, and Megan's right there with her. She is very deserving of the M V P. A swell, and she's very dominant. She can kill the ball. She's all over the court. It's just really, really humbling to have such great skill on a program that that were able to capitalize on their the big the big leaders of the team. And I think that the team really feeds off them, so they're greatly gonna be missed for sure. Having covered your team the last two years, I've noticed that you're really good at taking the first set, getting on a big run in the second set. I think you have a good team, run the end Ferguson and start the second set. It just seems to kind of demoralize your opponents to talk about your team's ability to do that. Um, well, I think in general this might be I don't know if it's just not mindset or it could be any other coaches mindset getting the first that is huge, especially in a platform like this. You know that always is something that helps the team's momentum and keeps them going. So, of course, that's like the Mango is all right. Let's get this first set, then we'll roll from there and I think we just got on a run and we just kept with that and I think, um going into the second set, having that momentum from that first, that really helped us push like it. I think we were up 70 Maybe at some point, I don't know, Haley was hurt. E don't even know who was having, um Taylor, but I don't know, but just having I think that momentum that don't get any team going in art, our team just set off that. And I think that helped us push through the next two sets after that. First one, Yeah, they've got a girl on the other side was going the auburn supply and talk about that contained it against her. How good she is. Well, she's very I mean, we saw that out there. She's very good, and we had watched some, you know, some film on her, and she was definitely one of the girls, you know, we had toe had at least get some touches on. She's gonna move around us to go to a D one like That's awesome, like, that's awesome accomplishments. So very, very cool for that. She gets to go there. Eso, Of course, that was like one of our main goals was to at least set something that she could work around it. If she gets her killed, she's gonna get her killed. And she did that tonight. That's very deserving. But we did get some touches on her. I do think that helped our defense. And, you know, when she was on the background, we kind of made the adjustments there. But, like, she's a good player. Varied. We just adjusted a little bit to her. I'm very proud of the defense for stepping up and doing their job. Anything for the girls. I was asked the girls this, I guess. Uh, so after today, four does eight volleyball state championships, which is second most in state history. What is it about the area you guys grew up in? Uh, that lends itself to just being, uh, such a Bible hot that we have this Bible tradition out there. Um well, I would like to capitalize on Bob or Coach Bob. You know, he's been there through most of those state championships, so, you know, he's really pushing, but the environment, honestly, we were always a big middle school team, like we've always just wanted to get at it with everybody. You know, we push ourselves and we push our teammates, you know, to be the best. So and not even that. We have great coaches and pushing really hard at practice that I love them, thanks to them both girls just talking about how it feels toe end your high school career, win back to back state power. You know, it feels amazing like last game. It is sad, really glad e feel the same way. I actually don't even want to graduate it. I wanna stay at this program because it was the best experience of my life. Anything from online online questions? Go ahead on future mike and ask if you like Ex James. This is Jason Savage. Wh Kyi coach. Let's talk a little bit about this season just being so dominating. Have you ever experienced anything quite like this? You lost one set all season long? Yes, uh, true. It's been a season, I'll say that. I think we're all experiencing the fun code restrictions that we all got to experience, and I think just in general that that was a huge obstacle for us and for any any high school program. We've all tried toe adjust to that. But you know what we have? The mindset. Coach Ledford was very persistent on this was all right. One day at a time. We get to play volleyball. You know, we're very fortunate on. Do you know what? We had some great nonconference games scheduled, and unfortunately, we didn't get to experience that. But we just took every game like, you know, what we get to play today, and that's what we're fortunate for. So let's just take it to him every game we got. And then here we are in the state championship. But we did just that. And finally, Michelle, this question is for you. You are the third player now from Freddy Ford to be a back to back state M v P. Does coach or anybody else on staff talked about just, you know, that history of Ford volleyball? No, that was alluded earlier, uh, in the room there. But just the fact that you know, this is something that would you would think is rare, but this is actually the third time it's happened in your school's history. Um, it is an honor to receive this most valuable player. Platt and I couldn't have done it without my coaches and my teammates. I honestly all my teammates deserved this. Platt. Not just me. Because we worked hard all together to win. Thank you, ladies. Congratulations. Anybody else on? Thanks, Jason. If not girls congratulate. Congratulations. Enjoy it. And go have fun with your teammates as much as you guys can. Within this brave new world, we're all living. Congratulations. Thank you. Okay. Thank you.
