Footway lighting which is switched off late at night is to be looked into by Sutton Bridge Parish Council.
Vice Chairman Anne Scarlett raised her concerns surrounding safety as several parts of the village are being left in darkness late at night.
She said: “It’s the whole of The Nightingales estate; Falklands estate, Peter Scott and a couple of other places which are put in complete darkness throughout the night.
Street lights
“As there’s so many elderly people living in the bungalows there should be some form of street lighting at night as it does put burglars off. From midnight to morning there’s not a light. I would like to know why these specific areas have been chosen to have no lights.” Coun Chris Brewis said: “Some lights are the department of transport lights, some are county council, some are district council and it depends which authority looks after the lights what happens.”
