BY Andrew Gutman | Posted on Ford‘s all-electric Mustang Cobra Jet 1400 has just broken an NHRA record. With driver Bob Tasca III at the wheel, the car ran an 8.128-second quarter mile at 171.97 mph (276.76 km/h), beating the previous record of 8.27 seconds at 168 mph (270 km/h) from last September. It should be noted that Tasca is no stranger to drag racing Mustangs. Back in 2007 he set the alcohol-fueled funny car record in his Mustang funny car with a 5.451-second quarter mile at 263 mph (423 km/h), and even today he’s still piloting a Mustang funny car, albeit a more modern one.
