Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Feb 24, 2021 1:54 PM A 26 year old man from Fort Pierre will be sentenced next month (March 2021) in connection to an incident in rural Stanley County last year involving a dog shooting and property damage. Information from Stanley County State’s Attorney Tom Maher says Wyatt Lane Myers pled guilty to Aggravated Eluding, Driving Under the Influence and Possession of a Loaded Firearm While Intoxicated. Court information says at about midnight Aug. 17, 2020, the dog’s owner called 911 to report his dog was shot outside of his home along South Dakota Highway 1806 and that the shooter had left. Law enforcement officers from the Stanley County Sheriff’s Office and the South Dakota Highway Patrol located Myer’s driving away from the scene of the shooting. A high speed chase began and went into the City of Fort Pierre. The pursuit ended when Myers’s truck hit a Western Area Power Administration security fence in Fort Pierre.
