(file photo) Four days of submissions on New Plymouth District Council’s proposed $3 billion plan for the next decade get under way today. There are 175 people who have been chosen to speak at the long-term plan hearings, which begin at 9am in the Council Chamber on Liardet St. Owning to the number of submissions, speakers have been allotted either five or 10 minutes to make their case. The proposals include spending $18 million to put water meters into 26,000 homes, $248 million to upgrade drinking water, wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, $20 million to improve Waitara’s stormwater system, and investing $40 million in a multi-purpose sports hub.
