PORT ST. LUCIE — Four people, including a man from Port St. Lucie, died in a multi-vehicle crash on Interstate 95 early Sunday morning, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The crash occurred after a van stopped, for unknown reasons, between the right and center southbound lanes on I-95 around 4:30 a.m., just south of Gatlin Boulevard in Port St. Lucie, FHP said. A pickup truck then crashed into the side of the van, being unable to avoid the stopped van. A tractor-trailer, also unable to stop, then crashed into both vehicles. The van ended up on the left shoulder of the highway and the pickup was dragged by the tractor-trailer a few hundred feet between the left and center lanes.
