This incident, we had deputies smuggling, he went to deploy tire spikes, deputies were pursuing this individual on your screen. Deployed the spikes pulling the spikes back, lost footing on the bridge, went over the guard rail, went down 15 feet, had multiple fractures. We had another media crew with us, that to notify Law Enforcement<\/a> he was hurt so the deputies continued the chase, didnt know their partner was hurt. One of the agents was flagged down into the watch area. And after being flown out that night after being rescued, having a chance to talk to him for 36 hours, he had surgery most of the day yesterday. He is lucky to be alive. Let me just say that. When you hear Human Smuggling<\/a> i think about the children and weve seen some pretty harrowing images of children being pulled through barbed wire, many of them in terrible condition. What do you see on that front . The got aways, and the cartels, mainly us citizens, by the thousands, all about money, working for the cartels, they will do anything they can to get out of my county placing citizens at risk, this is not the first person to be injured, deputy has been injured and months back a smuggler tried to run them over and another driver was killed in that incident. The strategy we are seeing, two officers on the trail by smugglers. This is ongoing every day. Citizens are tired of it. The state, my office, where is the federal government . They act like we dont have a problem, every day that goes by we see another tragedy on the southwest border.
