Pierre mentioned earlier on a ground in a coordinated effort to apprehend this individual. Weve notified the Department Of Education and they have determined what they will do with the schools. A lot of area schools were shut down today based on our conversation with them. As more information comes in well provide it to you. Thank you for your time. That is a very difficult time for the community of lewiston, difficult time for the victims families. Its a tough time for Law Enforcement. It was a rough night last night but were committed to bringing whoever is responsible to justice and again were currently looking for mr. Card right now. Someone we would like to apprehend. Our hearts go out to everyone impacted as a result of this senseless violence. The f. B. I. Is working hand in hand with Law Enforcement possible, were here processing the extensive scenes and providing investigative and tactical support as well a Victim Specialists are working with those affected by this tragedy. As this very active Investigation Continues to unhold we ask the public to stay vigilant and come forward with any information that you might have that you feel is helpful to our investigators. My pledge is the f. B. I. Will carry out this investigative case with rigor. Well workday and night alongside our partners to get the answers to the questions this community deserves. I would say that the reality here from a resource standpoint is that what weve asked for anything, the answer has been yes, period. Tactical teams, evidence response teams, full blown investigative and Detective Units coming from multiple states from vermont and New Hampshire, massachusetts saying what do you need, what can we do for the state of maine . Which are owe now prepared to try to take a few questions and keep in mind we may not be able to answer as in depth as you like. We dont plan an taking a lot of questions. Followup press events will allow for that. [inaudible question]. There are reports that the individual had Mental Health ish ishikawa issues and made threats to National Guard. The possession of the weapon and certainly why wasnt he stopped sooner . I think those are all valid questions and certainly questions were looking into now but not questions that we can answer today. Considering that this occurred last night, there is still an active search for the suspect in question. I appreciate those questions but not something we can answer now. It is certainly one of the things we want to follow up on. All aspects of that. Right here. The ages of who have died. Im not sure we have that information with us today. We wanted to break it down by gender because thats something we had readily available. We did not break it down to age ranges at all. What can you tell us about [inaudible] the Person Of Interest. The Person Of Interest, not suspect. What can you tell us as to that . We used Person Of Interest last night for half of the room here for that press event. As the colonel mentioned there are arrests warrants for murder for this particular individual, mr. Card. He is viewed as a suspect and fullcourt press to bring him into custody. The idea that [inaudible question] for Mental Health facility. How could someone who fits the profile still be in possession of semi automatic weapons. I know that well be reviewing that information as we move forward. Thats not an answer were prepared to give today. It leads to motive. Behavioral health issues. I expect you will hear back from us in the future on that. I have a question about can you tell us about whats leading you that far north . We have Law Enforcement assets deployed over a number communities following up on a number of Different Things. There are a great deal of Search Warrants and partners at helicopter from the New Hampshire state police. Whether we have tactical elements out or searching an area. Some of the air assets would be valuable to us. We arent going to speak about what brings us to any specific community. What are people encouraged to do. Some people may have loved ones. We did have a Family Reunification Center open last night and Behavioral Health liaisons engaged to work with families, loved ones and victims that may be in the hospital and seeking treatment. Those things are actively occurring. We are dealing with each situation separately. Do we need dna and waiting to find a loved one, some Family Member we can make a notification . That varies across the board. Two more questions. Right here. [inaudible question] were always concerned around motive. You say triggering event is a motive for us. Not something were prepared to discuss today. It is clearly something thats important. I appreciate the question. One additional follow up from you. Why this bar and why this Bowling Alley . That does speak to motive. I appreciate the followup but not prepared to answer today. One more question right here. You say you want them to stay and say if were actively search knowledge for him. If i knew the answers to those questions this would be a different press conference. We dont know his location and ill leave it at that. We are working with the Attorney Generals Office. Harris people in the state of maine have a lot of questions and the emotions are running hot because they havent caught this killer yet and we dont know exactly what they are dealing with but some things have changed and updated. Quickly as they wrap up the News Conference now with still shouted questions. You can see Law Enforcement and officials, the governor is there, too, are lined up in the back trying to get out of here now but those journalists are doing their jobs in terms the of trying to figure out what to tell the public, if there is any last thing. I know those officials are under a lot of pressure and want them to do their jobs, too. This turned into a shout fest a little bit at the end there understandably. The massive search for the shooter who guned down at least 18 people in a murderous rage, the number of at least 18 dead is new information about the victims and also new to the whole spectrum of information we have, the governor of maine said the number of injured has been revised down now to 13. Any life lost or Person Injured obviously is a tragedy. Hearing any numbers and even the ones weve just been given are likely to change again were told is tough. The revision down from 50 to 60 to 13 injured for right now would be a Huge Development positively. But if you are the Family Members of any of those at least 18 dead, i can only imagine you would want those reporters to shout as much as they could get to get any information. I dont know if you can ever make sense of it. Whatever we can do now to get this guy. During this hour, i will ask my team to immediately put up that number that people can call and were putting it across the show pages as well. One of the places the killer hit was a Bowling Alley. Were told it was a family kids fun night. It is now feared some of the victims are children and we learned seven people died at the bolling alley. Thats what we just learned from this News Conference. The town of lewiston, maine, took the brunt of what we were told was one mans rage located near portland. Entire communities are in lockdown. The manhunt is entering its 16th hour now. Law enforcement have identified 40yearold robert card. You see his picture. Well show it a lot. Originally interest and now eight counts of murder against him. What we learned from the News Conference is it will likely pop to whatever the death count is. Right now there are 18. There are charges against this man. Thats how we begin the hour. Im Harris Faulkner and you are in the faulkner focus. The first calls for help began coming in at 6 56. A man opened fire at a Bowling Alley packed with teenagers having fun and there with their youth bowling league. The shooter left the Bowling Alley and went to a bar four miles away. He say they targeted that bar and grill. Retired nypd inspector paul mauro is with me now. Youve been on through the night. Youve been up all night looking at this. What new information did we get there that tells you how do they get this guy we got good news with the numbers being revised down. Last night we said in any situation the first 9 of 10 reports will be wrong. We got that. Now whats new that came out of that . Not a whole lot. Lets take a step back a little bit and say where we are now relative to the search now that its daylight. He will be more visible. The other thing is some of the things they count do overnight they can start to do now. Start to serve Legal ProcessSearch Warrants and subpoenas as they dig into his life. Obviously right now the more obvious ways of finding him havent worked. He has been on the loose a good long time. They scrambled the search up quite quickly. The circumstances are mysterious. His car is found in lisbon and bowdoin. Was he on the way to the house . We dont know. Soft reporting he might have access to a boat because there is a river there. A river can take you somewhere. Harris i apologize for cutting in. I want you to tell the audience his capability on the water. Its more than one boat. He may have access or ownership of two boats. Are they registered. Did they dump the dmv file and what are the capabilities of those bodies . One thing you can see he is an adept outdoorsman on the water. Pictured with fish and on what looks like not a lake, but the river. Why is that troublesome . As i was saying it could take you someplace else. We dont know how much planning went into this. There was a certain amount of planning. You can see in the images of him entering the Bowling Alley he has bullets to do damage. He has a highpowered rifle looks like an af15 and maybe even a night scope. He did that much prep. He also knew enough to go to two very targetrich locations. As you mentioned the Bowling Alley, we checked the Bowling Alley said no lanes available tonight because we have our bowling league. The youth bowling league. Harris teenagers. He might have connection to that place. He then goes to a pool hall thats also heavily populated and why you got the body count you did. They arent next door to each other. You drive from one to another and he ditches the car. All this argues that there was some thought put into this however skewed his thinking is and you have to say to yourself he knows the area, he has some outdoor skills. It appears his waterways, a trained Firearms Instructor and he hears voices. You have a real bad situation. Harris all right so in recent days i know a lot of this information now is becoming more solidified now that we have heard from the governor of the state of maine and other Law Enforcement officials. I appreciate what you always say and caution with, paul. The first 9 to 10 reports are wrong. Were only a few deep. We have to prepare for what we dont know that we dont know. But for right now when you say he was Hearing Voices, that actually harkens back to what we can confirm, that he spent some time in a mental facility and your thinking earlier this morning as i was watching you on other programs here on fox news, now that weve seen the News Conference, maybe you feel differently. He may have checked himself in. They have flag laws in maine, yellow flags. If police find out you have a situation they can get your highpowered weapons and the take steps to get you more help. Two weeks in a mental facility tells you what . He was in a long time. Reportedly he is a National Guard reservist. I assume he has access to those kinds of medical benefits. He recently lost his job. Maybe through the National Guard program he can Access Medical insurance. Two weeks is a long time. The maximum is 72 hours and generally they cut you loose. In the city we take you to bellevue, they give you fluids mack sure you take your meds and out the door. Two weeks is a long time and raise the question the concern is to get this guy. Did the yellow flag law work or not . Clearly it didnt. Why not . Under a yellow flag law, unique to maine, the only people who can actually refer to the court because its a civil process to get your guns taken away from you and force treatment is Law Enforcement. Police or prosecutors. Family cant do it. So if the family sees him in distress even if a doctor sees him in distress its not clear whether or not they can do that. Doesnt look like they can but this according to the same bulletin you are referring to, he says he was it says he was making threats against his base. That is criminal. Did that go to the police . You have to ask what the circumstances were because it looks like maybe some safeguards here didnt click in. Harris were all looking at the same schematic here. If the last people to talk to him were the medical facility and didnt flag police he was making threats against a u. S. Military base or at that point Hearing Voices that were telling him to do certain things, including that. Would it have been hipaa laws. What would have kept them from telling police what was going . A misunderstanding . We dont know yet. Thats the investigation were talking about. They need to go deep. Some states have Red Flag Laws and those work differently and bakers law in florida. Other states. Will maine take another look at what they have. We dont know. Before we move on, lets talk a little bit about we dont know if this would have been a Suicide Mission but you have heard experts saying that. What you just described and what we learned in the News Conference, you said gear that he can see at night and be around for a while. This sounds planned like he is not going away. If he was on a kill by cop mission he didnt do that. He has become elusive. You have tons of agencies up there. Command post set up. Clear who the Incident Commander is, the state police up there. And so in maine the way its structured state police are running this thing and local jurisdictions are operating under them and federal agencies are there to enhance. They bring technical expertise. We have an emergency search warrant, get us in. Does the phone back up to it . Did he throw it in the river . Im sure they tried to ping his phone so he knew not to do that. He is showing some tactical evasive abilities here that tell me this guy doesnt want to get caught. Doesnt look like a Suicide Mission. We thought it might be when it was reported he was coming back to the hospital and looked like he was returning to where the police were. We thought we would see a live shootout. Turns out it was a false alarm. I could go on for a while. They had to widen the perimeter and had the dogs out. It took longer than anybody expected. Remember one thing if i could close with this. Remember who The Good Guys are here. If the police did miss something or medical missed something here nobody will feel worse than they do. The cops out there now have been up already for 36 hours, im tired from being up all night. Cant imagine how they feel and they wont go home. Harris you are right about that. When i read they had brought in quite a few extra f. B. I. Agents, i mean, the number was into the dozens. That said a lot about perhaps in terms of finding this guy from what i understand half of new england Law Enforcement is in the area.
